Best Shine Award Comment Thread

Rock - since the rules said I couldn't comment & only post pics in the award thread, I'd figure I'd start this to chat!

Great idea & I assume 'normal sized' pic means 640x480 or 800x600. Any smaller and you lose detail, and larger and you run into problems with old PC users!

PS - Just to give you an idea of the shine, look close at my pic and you will see my reflection in the rear door, up near the front door handle. I'm standing roughly 10-12ft away from the truck and the detail is still there!

To avoid a total stalemate, there should be a 'cannot vote for yourself' rule! Everyone things thier truck has the best shine, duh!

EDIT: Are multiple pix allowed or is it a 'best pic you got' deal? I assumed one, but the rules didn't specify.

Does the pic have to be the entire truck, or can it be a portion or panel to illustrate shine?

I'd vote for whole-truck shots only. I don't want to see your Bud can's reflection.. *HICUP*

I'd say just a single picture of the whole truck.

I could polish the heck out of one spot and get a great shine.

I also vote the you should be able to vote for yourself. I mean, it's only one vote. But you should be fair to the contest and vote for the best of the group, not just your truck because it's yours.

Well... that's a matter of opinion...

For example, if you have a picture that shows reflectivity like this:

You might want to post it as I think it'd have a good chance pending those who are looking for the criteria that I've mentioned follow their eyes... In that reflection you can see the browns, greens, blues, greys, blacks... the curb makes it look like I've got a wild pinstripe of some sort...heck, you can even see individual pieces of gravel!

If it were me, I'd go for reflectivity, gloss, depth, and a good backdrop.

Ahh hell... since I can't play in the game I'm going to post another one that I'd think was worthy of some type of recognition...

I agree I could NEVER get any of my vehicles to look that good using wax by hand as RockPick use to until recently.

That is a sweet looking truck there my good friend…

Great Contest.

Do you think there should be a limit on how often the award can be won? Once a month? Once a quarter?

Possibly later in August I'll see where my business is as I might be willing to put in for an award for this contest.

Very nice RP. That was pretty much what I went with, the 3/4 view.
Just a suggestion, but maybe it should be broken down to light and dark colored trucks.
Although dzervit and others with light color trucks have excellent shine and reflection, they do not tend to show depth like your darker truck or my black truck. Just an idea.

I was wondering if somebody would mention that. I was thinking myself and some others are at a HUGE disadvantage since the blacks, blues, and deep reds have that wet, ultra-deep shine that no light color could ever touch! But I didn't want to say anything, didn't want to come off as a little cry baby... but I guess I'm crying now, aren't I? Dammmit!

EDIT: There sure are a lot of nice trucks posted!

Yes you are.

But hey, I dont blame you. I mean for biege or what ever Ford calls it, your truck shows depth pretty well dzervit.
I do think you are at a disadvantage though. What would be wrong with 2 winners, I mean the prizes can be split between the 2 winners. They each get Zip, except satisfaction, thats why we all polish our a$$es off is for the satisfaction.
