new baby

ok guys, need some help...

Just parked a new 04 XLT in the drive and want to give her that first Great Waxing
(when weather allows)

What do i need to do a good job...

I have read about Clay but don't know what it is... or how to use it...

Can someone make a simple list of what I need to do a good job...

and what waxes are recommended...

I'd just go down to my local Autozone and invest in a bottle of Meguiar's NXT Tech Wax ($15.00), and a few 100% cotton wax applicators ($2.50), and some Microfiber towels to buff it with (two for $5.99). Total spent=under $25-$26. And that is all you'll need.

Oh, you might want to get a bottle of the NXT Spray wax for the in-between washings.

Oh, I'd get a can of Detailer's Advantage tire foam spray. It's good stuff.

It probably wouldn't need claying unless it was shipped via rail and there is rail dust embedded in clear coat. If you look really close or run your hand over it and feel little pieces of grit, then you might need to clay. Otherwise I would just give it the old NXT tech wax and youll be good to go.

Thanks everyone,

Didn't mean to sound lazy, did read severial threads but when they started talking about clays and AIO and NXT and a hafe dozen diffrent waxes severial diffrent types of towels and frankly I was lost... I also read diffrent waxs do better /worse on diffrent colors...

OK I don't mind doing a major effort once or twice a year after that I would perfer to minimize the effort.

My truck is the dark Torador Red/tan..

I don't care what I buy or where but I am hoping to put togeather a kit (so to speak) that I will use and not go through the pain of stuff that dosn't work and having to toss it. (been there)

That is why i was asking for a list ..
never used micro towles so how many do you need for a SC truck and cap?

Also a explanation of what all the stuff is (clays, NTX, AIO) Sorry if I sound stupid... But hey have to learn sometime...

That should about cover it. LOL! Just get some good tire dressing, and you'll be in business.

Be VERY careful with that wash mitt.
They can pick up and hold small pieces of grit that will scratch your paint. Use something different for your wheels and and the really dirty parts like fender wells and such.
I just use a microfibre wash rag, it doesn't hold the grit.
Just my $.02

Not yet,
I am impaitently waiting on supplies (including the PC) and the cap to be installed...

I found a PC for $109 and though that was a decent deal, I also ordered this pad kit
http://www.properautocare.com/delporcaback.html

hopfully it will have everything needed...

Now I just need to learn how to use all this stuff...

OK dumb question do you use white pad for the nxt and gray pad for the #26?
