tree sap help

Does anyone know an easy way to get tree sap off of paint? I spent an hour using turtle wax bug, tar, and sap remover and didn't get close to getting it all off. Was hoping someone new a quicker, easier way that will not harm paint.

remover

I used GooGone to remove a dealership sticker on my Honda Civic about 6 months ago. Then washed and waxed it.

You can't tell where the sticker was, nor was there any paint or wax damage.

Try GooGone?

I haven't tried this, but I read an article that suggests using butter or margarine to remove tree sap. According to the author, it does a great job of softening the sap.

Click here for the full article. It goes a little bit into why the butter works.

Good luck.

Lightbulb personally untested.....this just in....

been there, done that with the sap problem.
I used to leave it sit in the sun, and take what I could get off the paint, a little at a time, with my finger nail.....80% success rate.
But, my wife just clipped two articles for me on the subject......here they are.

"93% percent rubbing alcohol-not 50 and not 70-will do the trick.
The white residue will wash off. Changes wipes frequently. Available at Wal-Mart."

"Use Rain-X to take the sap off, they might need to use a little wax to shine up the spot where it was."

Both ways sound a lot better than my way, hope they work!

I use Pinnacle PolyClay Clay Bars. They do a fantastic job in removing debris. Here is a link so you can check them out.

or just about any other decent clay bar with the clay lube. I don't know what that clay lube has in it but together, they do wonders.

Thanks for the help! I'll try some of these when the weather clears up. Hope one of them works well. It has been 4 days since I last tried to get the sap off and I still have tree sap under my finger nails. Next job is to cut the damn tree down!
