US. Air Force Harriers Flying over Calgary ....

Okay, Why is the US. Air force, or Air National Gaurd Flying approach Paterns to Calgary International Airport in fully armened Harrier Fighters.

This has been going on for 2 weeks, at times the planes s are flying intercept parterns ( no commerical planes ) and tag alongs with Comerical air craft.

The majority of the time thier are only singel fighters/ latley thier have been two planes flying togethier.

Great Falls and Spokane ( and Idaho ) have the air national Gaurd, less than 20 mim away from Calgary if A Harrier is going full out.

I'm fully aware the US. Air Force is flies over Southern Alberta in B52's ( on thier way to Fairchiled )

Planes traveling from the South to rhe north runwat at Calgary International air port Fly over my houes and thiers no mistaking the sound of a Harrier over commerical aircraft..

Maybe the U.S. government got a tip that Bin Laden is now hiding in the Alberta oil fields.

What's it to you? Not like Canada can do anything about it anyway

J/k...good question, likely training for a "worst case" scenario type of event if my guess. We are naturally the only ones that could save Canada if they were attacked by more than a raft

It's United States Marine Harriers.

And it's pretty common for the US to conduct joint training exercises with other country's.

And I doubt they are fully armed. Usually a training missile on the wingtip, and maybe some blue bombs unless you have a live fire range close by.

Don't worry, no charge for having Marines as additional protection of your country. We do it for other countrys as well.

Thumbs up

If you don't like the sound of freedom, use earplugs! As far as Iraq, one BUFF can solve the Iraq problem. Green glass is preferable to all that sand anyway.
(Green glass is the result of a airburst. I would suggest a series of 20 megaton units fused for airburst at 2000 feet).

Well, at least those yanks that responded aren't as ignorant as about 95% of their countrymen who don't even know Canada exists. Oh yeah, or supply them with most of the raw materials and resources they need in order to keep their wheels on the road, and maybe have heat in their homes. It's a two way street boys.

Thier are 4 missiles, 2 under each wing, thier are no bombs, The Harriers are flying in at less than 500 feet, at night the landing lights are on, I don't mind the sound of the Harrier.

AS for the added protection, thiers allways a hidden agenda with a cost attatched to it, I don't care if its the US. government, Canadian, or tim buck two, I don't trust governments.

I reacently learned that calgary international air port is the 10th location of the Space Shuttle to land in North America, I doubt it will be here any time soon.

I've noticed a few fighter jets (looked like F18 Hornets) flying around my area as well over the last few days. Then I realized Toronto is having an airshow, so these planes must be landing and taking off from Hamilton.

Glad to see CF F18 jioning in the show today, they were chassing the Harriers, and than the Hrriers were chassing are CF F18, nobody was going full tilt but intercept and attack paterns were being flowin, two Bad Canada has to go to the US. to get are planes, but its a little payback for the US. stealling the Avro Arrow, ( Definbaker was a sell out ) which became the F4Phamton.

To this day I thing the F4 is the coolest looking, if a little slow by todays standards.

OH PLEASE. What, all 10 of them you let us use? And don't even try and act as if your "boys" are out there doing some job that we aren't. What a joke...

Hey Back the F off, Canada has lost over 60 Soliders since the start of this, Considering Canada has no were near armend personal that the US. Has, this is a significant loss for our country.

I'm not down playing the larger loss's in personnel that the US. has incurred, But don't down play Canada as meaning less.

That's because CNN didn't want to divulge how many coalition troops were taken out by US soldiers
