need a little truck price help

I got a 2003 F150 4x4 Reg Cab XL with 100 000km mint condition it got stolen and I am fighting with the insurance company, they wrote it off as a total loss, and my pay out on my loan is $17400.00 and they are offering me $16500.00 any of you guys know what the retail price would be on this truck before taxes??? I told them I wouldn't accept anything lower than $18000.00 which would be $15800.00 plus tax here in Nova Scotia

i'd say you are lucking out getting that much from an insurance company. also keep in mind that you have the first right to buy your vehichle back from the insurance company for what ever they are going to sell it for scrap for and sometimes a write off isn't really if you are not that picky and still need a vehicle. i have seen motorcycles written off that if you can live with a few dents and scrathes for awhile could actually be fixed and ridden again for a mere few thousand. and i am talking harley's
so it might be worth a try if you can turn a wrench and don't mind a wander or two thru a junk yard.
