Thumbs down Carfax hell

Hey guys, I'm Terry. I bought a vehicle that had front end damage from a collision, which wasn't disclosed by the seller. And he’d shown me a CARFAX report, which also didn't show any accident records — the car was absolutely clean according to it. However, I ran a report on another website, epicvin.com, and it showed that the car was in an accident and then repaired. I don't know why this information wasn't disclosed by CARFAX, but now I'm aware that one should stay away from Carfax - it cannot be trusted.

I'd bet that the Carfax report that you were shown was forged or an old report. Then again, not all body shops report to Carfax and may report to a different service, or none at all.

I know this is an old thread but carfax is only as good as the people that report to it.
I bought a truck and the carfax was clean. About two years after I bought it my sister sends me a text asking if I knew the truck had been wrecked. Total damage insurance paid out $14,000.
