f150 towing capacity
I'm looking at purchasing a 98 f150 supercab. I want to be sure it can tow my horse trailer 30 min-2 hours about 15 times per year. I don't have a ton of money, but I only hope it can last me 2-3 years.
Problem is I can't figure out it's towing capacity. Please help!
It's a 4.6 liter v8 supercab. I know it has bigger tires and is possibly lifted. It's 4x4.
What is the rear axle ratio?
Do you think it can pull a 2800 lb horse trailer with 1 or 2 thousand lb horses in it?
Thanks !

If you live on flat country, you might be able to get away with it. Lifted trucks with big tires reduce the towing capacity unless the diff gears were changed to much lower ratios. If the gears have not been changed it will be documented on the sticker in the door jamb and on the rear diff cover tag.
