Hey yall I took the truck in yesterday because it has been making some strange noises and the guy told me I needed new brakes. My truck has 34,000 miles on it and was just kind of shocked I would need new brakes already. Is this normal? Or did yalls brakes long faster than that? Trucks a 2005.
My front brakes lasted about 25-30k. and have been replacing them "regularly" since
Rears will last about 60k, and only need pads

same basic wear, heavy ass truck, 12 or 13" rotor = moderate brake wear
but no parts from a 2003 will not if on a 2004+ truck

I find when you go to brake off the freeway let's say and it kinda sounds like a growl, almost the same noise as bieng in 4wd. Also, squeeling due to the wear bar on the pad (best indication). 34k is pretty normal mileage for wear, coarse, buddy wants a few bucks in his pocket too so he'll look for stuff.
I had a similar experience with my 2002 F150 Supercrew. The front rotors warped at 28k and had to be replaced (in 2005). I just had service at 55k miles and had to replace 3 of the 4 rotors. One of the fronts was warped again, and the rear rotors were heavily pitted, according to the dealer who did the service.
I love the truck, but am disappointed with the brake life. I have driven a range of Ford SUVs and trucks for over 20 years and this is the first truck I have had this problem with. We also have a 2002 Expedition, and have had no issues like this.
I'm glad to know that I'm not crazy! I just turned 24K on my 06' and I have had some squealing for a few hundred miles now but only when I am right at the point of coming to a complete stop and even then it isn't all the time. I know it's time though. I ordered a front brake kit from Summit for $205 and it is being delivered today. The kit has slotted and dimpled rotors and ceramic pads. The price was good so I figured I would give it a try. Hopefully, this set will last a little longer. I have never gone through brakes this fast.
