What mileage are you guys with the 04+ replacing brake pads and rotors??? Help!
So my 04 has 36K miles on it and this new mechanic I took it to is saying that my rear brakes are pretty much done. I need new pads and rotors, because if they turn the rotors they will be down to spec. I feel like 36K miles is kinda soon to be doing all this. I am the third owner of the truck, my dad had it for the last 12,000 miles and he drives like an old lady and babies it, I have had it for 3K miles, power braked it like once, just to see what it is like and thats it. I feel like I may be getting swindled here. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!
I think that is BS, my truck has 28k as of yesterday and I tow a 4k lb boat and the brakes look fine. Could your rotors have been turned by the original owner to get rid of the vibe so many have complained about?
I need to see what my dad's mechanic said about the brakes when my dad had them checked, my dad keeps a log of all his maintenance papers, so I will have to see what my dad's mechanic said about the pads and rotors. This is expensive and frustrating, but Brakes you have to have. I am also going to get a second opinion at a meineke brake shop close by and see what they have to say. My dad usually has had his work done at that meineke and he is always pleased with their work and prices. This is annoying......
I had the pads replaced in all 4 corners at 36k on my 2005. The wear on the rears were on the red acording to their gauge and the fronts in the yellow. Just went ahead and had all 4 done at once that way it would be over and done with.
Im at 56k and the fronts are new and the rears are shot. At the shop i used to work at we saw 3/4 ton chevs with 20-30k that needed brakes because they rot out so fast from the salt and weather
I just replaced all 4 pads and rotors on my 05 scab at 34k. Front pads were about 50%, front rotors had grooves in them and were pretty much shot (probably could have been turned), rear pads had about 15-20% and rear rotors were the same as the front. What a difference new pads and rotors make

So i have been having this odd intermittent vibration that comes and goes with no real pattern. Yesterday I had my leveling kit installed and the new wheels and tires mounted (KMC XD Series Spy, 35" Pro Comp All Terrain)... looks freaking awesome, driving to work this morning the vibration is back and slightly more exaggerated, I am thinkin it is the parking brake seizing issue that people have been experiencing with the 2004 F150, I am having the brakes all checked out on Tuesday at Meineke and I am going to get to the bottom of all these brake issues...... the vibration this morning felt like i was going to lose a wheel!
and then it just stopped! damn FORD, but I love em.....

Mine did that. After I replaced the $180.00+ front u-joint I figured out it was the e-brake. I don't use it anymore and the problem went away. Sounds like your problem as well.
Just had to replace my front pads this morning. Right after my last post! 80k on the fronts, 68k on the rear rotors and pads...didn't catch those in time.
Changed pads at 42k miles and they weren't that bad even with pulling a trailer and running 35" tires. Went with the carquest blues to try to cut down on some of the brake dust and help with the stopping of this tank!

at about 40k i needed pads in the front aswell as new rotors due to not being able to change out the bad bearing....then at about 50 i needed rear pads
so i still have stock never turned rear rotors, drilled and slotted front rotors, and my second set of pads at 100k
On the rear, 63k miles and the rivots just wore thru, so new pads and rotors. Whala, the trucks seems to brake so much smoother. The front still seem good.
