i answered this question in the supercrew forum too, they are not interchangable. I found out when i traded my 03 that it wouldnt work, sorry to break the news.

They wouldn't work because the new body style came out from 04+ and before that the body style was from 97-03.

its not really body style that has the main influence. Yes and no. Either way you look at it, the old style extender is a few inches too narrow. All the hardware is the same, just the extender is too small.
