Tonneu Cover Dilema

well i settled on the gaylord x2000 with 3rd brake light and optional keypad. ordered it on june 12. autoanything emailed me saying that it would take 2 to 3 weeks. well here it is muly 25 and theyre telling me its a custom top and just takes time. they have just got around to installing the keypad and brake light. 6 weeks later and now theyre just getting to it. they have had my money since june 12. wondering if i should wait or just get a refund and find anothere cap like ARE or LEER or something. tired of waiting. any help would be greatly appreciated because it seems like it will be another 2 to 3 weeks and i dont think any cap is worth a 8 week wait before the additional week in shipping.

You have already been waiting a month and a half so what is another month to get the cap that you want with the options you ordered. Sure, it is an inconvenience, but call them up and complain and you may get some of your money back for it.

well i tried calling autoanything and its only getting worse for me. called on the 23 and they told me that it would ship the next day and they would have a tracking number. called the 25 for the tracking number and they said that it had shipped but the guy with the tracking number was at lunch. called the 26 and autoanything said that it had not been shipped but it was on the dock waiting for the shipper to pick it up. it was boxed up and waiting to be shipped. called the 27 to find out that it was not on the docks to be shipped. it was having the keypad installed and brakelight installed getting ready to be painted. so i basically have been getting the run around for the last few weeks since it was suppose to ship on the 17 and its still not painted on the 27. paid for it on the 17 now that i have pulled up my original email. so for the last 6 weeks no money and still dont have a ship date. now they wont let me get a refund because supposedly its a special order item and its finished. guess ill contact my credit card company. i think that autoanything is getting tired of dealing with gaylords. they are some very untruthful people. guess everyone has ordered there tonneu covers and theyre backed up. but dont tell someone that something has shipped and then 5 days later tell them that its ready to be shipped and now it just ready to be painted. poor customer service and business practices

Autoanything is just an online retailer. They place the order with Gaylord and Gaylord manufactures the cover. So, typically, it's the manufacturer that holds up the show, not the retailer.

If memory serves me correctly I recall advising against having any dealings with Gaylords and warned that they had terrible service and warranty issues are another nightmare.
All of your issues will be with AutoAnything since they are the dealer you bought from and one call to the Better Busines Burreau should shed alot of light on what rights you have and can expect. Even though it was a special order as they called it they gave you a set period of time and have gone way beyond reasonable limits.
Another reason to not buy anything like this or other accessories off the internet. You have noone to answer to when questions come up and warranty issues are a hassle, if you go to a established store you will not have these issues and can get prompt service.
I tell anyone that comes in here and says anything about internet pricing that I will match the price (which is no problem and am usually cheaper anyway) and the service, if they have a problem it will cost them a shipping charge to bring it back and they will have to install and uninstall the product or that they will have to take up most warranty issues directly with the manufacturer.

never read any posts about avoiding gaylords but i have read a few where people were pleased with their orders. autoanything said they were going to refund me 5% of the price of the order since it has been taking so long and going to let me have free shipping. hopefully the tonneu will ship today. they said its ready and are going to expediate the shipping fedex. maybe luck is starting to shine my way.

well tonneu cover arrived today and i can defintely say it was worth the wait. the tonneu cover was packaged excellent and the color match is perfect. now all i have to do is find the time to install it. hopefully next weekend. but its very nice quality and im glad that my order couldnt get cancelled now. it only took 3 weeks longer than they said but its a beauitful tonneu cover. hate to cover up my new bedliner so im giving it one more week and the cover is going on. will take some pics before and after and also the way that its packaged. excellent job
