Black Plastic surfaces / Spray-In bedliner

I'm sure these two questions have been asked a million times. Please forgive me.

First, what is the best solution for black plastic surfaces like bed rails, door handles, engine cowl, etc. that have faded from black to light gray over the years?

Second, what can be done for a Rhinoliner spray-in bedliner? It is not coming off, as far as that goes it is in really good shape. But it has faded from black to an almost green color. I want it black again.

Thanks in advance.

You can paint the black plastic with krylon fusion, try a heat gun, etc. No dressings are going to restore the faded plastic though, those will all just be temporary.

I'm not sure about the bed liner, besides cleaning it, you may have to live with the gray.

I tried a few experiments....one of which was using kerosene and a nylon brush to scrub it...worked and maintained appearance for about 6 months......whT I succome to is using rustoleum plastic paint........very nice, very durable.....aside from the normal gloss colors, they have an auto trim color as well.....saw that at auto zone, thought I went for the gloss black.

This stuff works pretty good on the faded black plastic trim:

This stuff is a dye and is a lot more permanent - without having to deal with paint:

Thanks, guys.

No one mentioned it, so I curious to know what people think of plasti-dip as a solution.

Plasti dip would work just fine. However, it's not permanent.

For the Rhino, go get LINE-X ReNew. ReNew is a patented process for any faded bedliner. Your Rhino will look like a brand new LINE-X bedliner and will include UV protection so that it will hold its color and gloss for many years.

As far as plastics go, Krylon Fusion is a good choice. However, both Fusion and Plastidip only last a year to two and will have to be reapplied. But, that's not a big deal.

Plastidip won't provide a long-term solution. Paint them instead. Another method is to use protectant/dressing with UV protection though you need to apply it on a regular basis.

Just took care of the grey problem on my plastics with the heat gun.It works on bed rail covers, back bumper cover, cover below the windshield and the trim on the bottom of the front bumper. Doesn't work on the door handles.
