As I couldn't justify the cost of the higher end covers, I decided on the Tonnopro Vinyl Trifold from autoaccessoriesgarage.com. At $260 with free shipping, it was not a huge risk. It installed without modification to my slide-in liner, just as advertised, in about 15 minutes, with no tools. The kit included weather stripping for the tailgate, but I didn't use it.
I was relieved to find the tailgate closes snug up to the bottom of the liner, without "banging" into it.
The 24 lb. "10 year warranty" vinyl material appears to be fairly tough, and the aluminum "lifetime warranty" frame feels sturdy.
Something critics may not like, are the slightly visible ribs. I don't find it to be a problem. As it is a soft cover, it ripples a bit at highway speeds, but not enough to be obnoxious. I've now been through Colorado snow, cold and rain without leaks, though I am careful when washing, not to spray directly under the edges.
If I could justify the cost of a hard cover trifold or retractable, I would buy one, but if there is a better soft trifold on the market, especially at that price, I would like to see it.
As a side note, the vendor I purchased from was very professional, and answered my questions via email, before I made the purchase. Included in the price was a bottle of vinyl cleaner, and a small "stick-on" bed light.
