need help - Lund Genesis tri fold tonneau

hello,

i bought my truck a few months ago (2006 screw 5.5 bed king ranch edition) and the factory tonneau had some holes. so i purchased the lund genesis tri fold tonneau. IT LEAKS LIKE CRAZY!!!!!!!!! is there anything i can do to stop this. it doesn't quite fit great on the sides but other than that it looks great and the construction seems pretty good as well. i just need to find a way to get it to stop leaking. if it were some small amount of water that would be fine....but we had rain last night (steady but not even remotely a dowpour) and this morning there was a gallon of water in my bed at least. no joke

has anyone else had this problem and how did you fix it?

i've read reviews and all the covers have had problems and there is no one that sounds more superior than the other.

please help guys

First off are there any watermarks or leaking signs around the perimeter of the cover where you can tell exactly where it is leaking? It could be a matter of condensation, these covers will condensate on the inside and drip into the bed which is not a leak and there is no fix for condensation.

yeah,

there was water running in when i checked it. front and down both sides. i'm trying to track down a roll of adhesive backed foam. i think if i add another layer it just might fix the problem

Just run by the closest fiberglass top/lid dealer and pick up a roll of captape, there are plenty of them in northern VA where I see you are from.

well, i went and bought a roll of cap tape. rained all saturday and when i checked the bed sunday morning i still had water. granted there was about half as much as the first leak. so do i add more tape? i just don't know what to do. i think it sealed it in the front of the bed which is where the first leak came from, now i think its coming from the tailgate. is there something i can do to seal the tailgate area more? i don't want to affix anything to the tailgate itself

You have done about all you can other than just keep adding the cap tape to areas you find leaking. Try and get in the bed with the tailgate closed and a light next time it is raining, or have someone simulate rain with a garden hose, and see if you can pinpoint the source of the water.

With soft tonneaus I never give any kind of gaurantee of them being watertight/proof. The only thing I tell my customers is that I rarely have any complaints with them.

i think i have it just about sealed up now. and i'm pretty sure that the water that was there is from the tailgate seal. just need to figure something out and should be good to go
