Wanting a Softcover

Recently I have started taking more road trips with my truck and as such I am looking for something more secure for the bed than a tarp zip-tied to the crner tie-downs.

I went to the Local Line-X dealer who sold me the cover for my last truck and he doesn't know of anything that will fit/work with the Cargo Management System that came from Ford with my truck. He called TruXedo while I was there and they said they might have something but it is special order so we don't want to order it unless we know it will work.

Removing the rails for a cover is not an option since I use the boxes and tie-down hooks very often and can't afford to lose them. So I was wondering if anybody knew of any brand of softcover that will either work with or around the Ford Cargo management System.

Thanks

Most every manufacturer has a cover for the rail system, all that changes is the clamp system that utilizies the rail system. The problem is that the rail option wasn't that common so the warehouses don't keep these covers in stock because of low/no demand so they are special order.

I recommend going with the Extang Classic Platinum or Black Max they both carry a 10 year tarp warranty and lifetime frame warranty. The part numbers are Black Max #2791 and Platinum #7791.

Thanks for the information but because of the horrible customer service I received with my last Extang cover I will not purchase another one of their products.

I also looked at those on their website just now and they are both the snap style which won't work for where I live in Wisconsin. I have seen many trucks that friends and family sue that have snap systems and the snaps ice over and get rusted due to the winter weather here.

I am hoping to get something like the TruXedo which uses Velcro all the way from front to back and It is much less prone to the ice problem.

Truxedo

Lo Pro QT #578201
TruXport #278201

These are your only two options, and both will work with the track system. I don't know where your dealer gets his stuff from but my warehouse has both of them in stock.

Thats interesting, Did you register the cover for the warranty when you bought it? I just dealt with Extang and they were A CLASS ACT. I still have the email address of the Cust. Svc Rep who worked on my issue. They do have a 10 year tarp/lifetime frame warranty, if you want I can give you his info and you can try again.

I had my Trifecta for about 9 months when I started to notice a separation in the corner. I called Extang Customer Service and got right though and didn't have to sit on hold for hours. Explained my problem and the Customer Svc Rep told me to take a picture of the issue and a pic of the Serial # stamped on the bottom of the canvas and email it to him. Within an hour of emailing it, I got a return email telling me to cut the serial number out of the canvas top and mail it to them. So I cut it out which left a 1in x 3in hole in my cover. (That I put some black duct tape on and didnt even notice) A few days later I got a call from the Cust Svc rep I was dealing with just to let me know they got my swatch and were sending out a new cover. 2 days later which was exactly 1 week from when I mailed them the swatch I had a brand new complete system on my doorstep. I have dealt with warranty's on other products and usually you have to jump through hoops because like Tommy boy says " All they sold you was a guarunteed piece of ****" I always liked Extang Products and after this experiance I am now a customer for life.

Thanks F150RYDER2K8 for the information and for the offer of the contact info but I traded the truck that had that cover for my F-150.

I'm glad you had a good experience with them and hope you enjoy their cover. I loved my Extang Solid Fold that I had and it was perfect because of the light weight and ease of install/removal which I did more than I can remember. I'm not going to get into the exact reason it's just that I was very unhappy and will not be going back to them for a product. I wish you good luck with your cover but have decided that I'm going to get the TruXedo Lo Pro QT when ever I manage to get the cash.

Truxedo Low Pro QT is a real nice cover, I hear ya on the cash thing these covers are pricey, thats part of why I went with the Extang Trifecta, price and because dad has has a Extang Fulltilt for 9 years and that thing is still in great shape.

I usually try to give the local guy my business but TruckChamp.com had the cover $33 bux cheaper with free shipping, plus I didnt have to pay 7% Sales Tax with them ($28) and I had a 10% off coupon so in the end I ended up only paying $340, versus $428 at the local guy so when you are ready to buy that definatly shop around. If you find a site with a good deal then go to google and do a search for coupon codes for the site. ex. "Truck Champ coupon codes" and you might find a code to save yourself a few extra bucks. Good Luck Man.

As much as I would like to save a few extra bucks online I'm going to have my local Line-X guys install it the first time for me and then if I ever have a reason to remove it I will know how to put it back properly. Also, having them install for me is free because I've given them plenty of business so far.

Hopefully you can get the Truxedo, I have the Truxedo Truxport and I love it. Just installed about one month ago. I love the way it works with the bows rolling up with the cover and no snaps to mess with. The adjustable tension is nice also. Paid 271.00 for it from Tonneau Covers One. Ordered online and had it in a day as they are right here in Michigan.
