Bed Rug install with geezer step and assist handle

Has anybody put in a Bed Rug kit in a F-150 with the geezer step and the assist handle? I got a Bed Rug coming, but I would like to get rid of the plastic back piece that is attached to the inside of the tail gate, and use the Bed Rug inner tail gate cover. Anybody install one like this yet?

let me know if you do it or how you do it. I just took delivery on an 09 f150 Lariat 4x4 yesterday with the razor red/gold scheme and i too have the "Man-step". I'm lookin at the bed rug as well for mine so we can lay in the back and camp/stargaze/whatever...

oh yea... my first post here too lol

I have done a few of them. There are a couple of options what I have done is just put the tailgate piece on like normal and if you need the handle pull it up and expose the handle, it is held in place with velcro and is easily done. You could also cut the tailgate piece off the BedRug or install it as normal and cut out the section over the handle to expose it. But like I recommend just doing the normal install. Instead of using the long solid piece at the top of the tailgate just use for of the smaller pieces, one at each corner and on each side of the step to the inside of the tailgate is a raised piece that is just the right size for one of the small velcro pieces and put one there on each side of the step. It doesn't interfere with the step at all.
