Bedrug Owners, share your tips!

Hey guys,

I ordered a Bedrug a few days ago because with Amazon's prime shipping it cost me $3.99 to overnight it. It's coming in today.

I was wondering if you guys would mind sharing any tips you discovered along the way as far as installing it. I find that there are always little tidbits of info that would help but aren't included in the installation manual. Anyone have any for the Bedrug or is it fairly straightforward?

Thanks!

I did it 4 years ago but remove tie downs and reinstall just the screws. When you get the rug in just cut with a razor blade a small x over the screw heads and push the screws through. Then remove screws and install tie downs over the rug and you have a clean install. When you get the rug just zip it all together. Clean bed with alcohol where the velcro strips are going. Apply the velcro strips to the back of the rug and peel 1'' of the adhesive at each end of the velcro. Place the rug in and firmly push down on the rug where the velco strips are. Now pull the rug up slowly removing the velco strips from the bottom of the rug. Pull the rest of the double sided tape off the velcro strip and secure firmly. Reinstall rug and everything should line up and your good to go. I hope this makes sense, its really not that hard.

I had mine installed, the best tip of all! Seriously, I don't think it would be that hard, just a little time consuming, of which I have little excess. Good luck and please post pics.

put a tip tie on the zipper, it makes it easier to hold onto while zipping it up

How did I do it? I bought a used one (from Sleestak) already put together. Only had to buy some velcro and remove/reinstall the tie downs.

I already put it in and only took a few pictures because I was against the clock with the sun going down. I also had to deal with removing and reinstalling my bedcover. I've done that so many times now, though, that it only takes me 30 minutes tops to remove and reinstall it. Tomorrow after class/work I'll take a few more and do a mini write-up. It's not too bad but there are some things I'd point out to someone trying it for the first time.

For some reason mine didn't come with instructions even though it is brand new. I popped on BedRug's website and glanced at their instructions but they weren't top notch so I basically did it myself. Like everyone else says it's not too bad.

I'll take a few more pics tomorrow and mention a few things in case anyone installs one in the future. A few things that stick out that I'd mention would be making sure to line up the corners really well and where to put the smaller strips of velcro. More coming tomorrow....

I just got back from the store and was thinking that when I was unloading my stuff. Any recommendations? How easy is it to wire them up?

I have this kit http://www.gosocom.com/product.php?p...ht+Kit&p_cat=8

BADDRVR helped me install them. We put a switch in the bed where the gate closes so when you open the gate they come on. Had to hard wire it to the battery since there's no constant hot back there.

That's genius, man, thanks! That's how I'll do mine. Appreciate it.
