Any Acess Roll-Up owners out there? I've got some installation / operation questions I'd like to seek help with. Any support is appreciated.

all the tonneau's go on in the same fashion, what you have problems with?

I'm really just curious how tight you keep the vinyl. I had an accessory store install mine but quickly realized that it was basically "slammed" in with no quality. I ended up correcting most of the issues and everything is good.

However, I've been trying to keep the vinyl taut, but not too tight becuase I don't want to overstretch the vinyl. The back snaps in securely but I don't have to apply much pressure to snap it down. The way I have it now, there is a minimal amount of play in the material, so it does wave around a little while driving. My biggest issue is that it collects a minimal amount of water when it rains (turned to ice the other night and stained the vinyl!!!), and I'm not sure if that is typical.

Does youse guys covers collect water when it rains?....or do you have it tight enough to avoid that? How much pressure are you applying when you snap the back down? The instructions say 20-30 LBS of pressure. I have a hard time gauging that. Thanks in advance for the help guys. Always appreciated.

Go ahead and tighten it a little. There will be a little sag and water build-up like that just the nature of vinyl covers. You don't want to tighten it to much during the winter cause come summer you will be tightening it alot to accomodate the stretch of the vinyl in the heat.

Agreed, it got down to about 15 degrees here last night. I could tell that the vinyl got tighter. I basically just ensure the back snaps down with "some" pressure but not much. When it was installed, the back pretty much fell into place with no effort. I tightened each side about 1/4 turn.

I have had 2 of them one on my 03 and one on my 06. In the winter it does get a little loose. I have water collect in between the bars but not much. As far as staining goes mine will stain at first but after a good detail the staining disappears.

Count me in as having one but the store i got it from installed it. Ive had no sagging issues though and havent had to tighten it through any seasons. No ice or water buildup. The snow built up on it one day but after i brushed it off it went back to being normal/tight.

I installed my access Roll cover seven (?) years ago. I have the velcro. If you had a store install it, go back and ask for the instruction or go some where and ask for a copy of the install instructions; or see if the instructions are on the internet. There should be room for adjustments. Snug, but not too tight would be better.

I have had little or no staining, but the truck is parked inside. But, it gets wet a lot here and no problems.

Sound like you are on the right track with the quarter turn tightening.

I just tightened mine after reading this post. Mine was 3 full turns out from being tight. I read the instruction book and it says it needs to have 30lbs of force to close and to use your household scale to judge it. I will check mine again this summer.

Thanks for all of the replies guys. I noticed the instructions saying 20 to 30 lbs of pressure when closing but had a hard time gauging that. Didn't think of using a standard weight scale; might have to try that. I still think mine may be a little loose becuase it does hold some water in the rain. Other than that, seems okay.

Does anyone on here have a short bed? I noticed that my support bars on the cover aren't centered. I have 2 bars. One is about 1 to 2/3 down the bed from the cab. The other is only 1 foot away from the tailgate. Wondering if this is standard for Roll-Ups made for short beds. If not, that may also be causing the problem.

I have three. One a foot away from tailgate, one in middle, and one 18 inches from the window. I'd bet you are missing one.

I have the 5.5 bed and mine is the same way with 3 supports. Mine actually sags worse in summer than winter when the sun bakes it, things seem to loosen up. I keep mine probably tighter than you are supposed to because I don't like it bucking, so far I have had no issues with it.

How are you guys getting rid of the water stains ?

I'm not sure what is going on. I just got off the phone with the manufacturer and they assured me that the covers for the 5.5 ft bed have "2" support bars, not including the head rail of course. Oh well.

As far as stains, try a good wash and some Meg's Hyperdressing. Works for me.
