Rhino...

OK Here is my question, I have a 2002 FX4, which has a Rhino Liner. I want to install a body lift and the bed bolts are cover with bedliner. I am thinking that I could use a very sharp razor knife to cut around the bolt head, and try to scrape out of the torx . Just looking for any other suggestions before I do it...

Thanks
- Corey

Cut around the bolt and try to just peel it off the head of the bolt.

Looks awful when they do that.

Mine does not look that bad....It is like they built up on the bolt and then did the bed because Mine are just smooth bubbles you cant even tell there are bolts under there. (Which I am sure will make it more of a pain to carve out)

well if you manige to get it off.. what you can do is eaither recover it with more bedliner or use a bigger washer on the bottem between the bed and the bolt head. with maybe a rubber gasket under all that between the bed and the washer... if you dont want to cover it back up. thats what i would do. good luck.

Good luck getting the bolts out. Even if you remove the coating from the bolts, the bed bolts don't want too loosen. I had mine sprayed with PB Blaster for several days, and yesterday I had a Lin-X bed liner sprayed in. The Line-X guy used a 1/2" impact gun, broke one torx bit, and never did get any to come out. ('04 model) He said he has trouble even on one year old Ford bolts. You may end up using a cutting torch and replacing with new bolts and clips. Just a heads up.

I was able to remove mine (01) with no problems at the beginning of this month. I think a lot has to do with the geographic location of where you live. I actually removed my bed bolts, the four tie downs, striker for the bed extender, plastic grommets above the striker, and the two at the very front wall of the bed to do my liner.
