1981 F-150 cap question

I am looking for a cap to put on the bed of my 1981 F-150. I have looked and advertised on Craigslist and Ebay with no luck. Does anyone have a lead to get a camper cap for my 81? I believe the bed is 8' X 4"

You can get a top that fits a 1974-1996 Ford, 1973-1987 Chevy or 1972-1993 Dodge and it will work fine. All the trucks in that year range had the same bed dimensions in the longbed. Should be fairly easy to come across one if you look at all three knowing they are the same top. I loved it back then being in the camper top business we could keep a few tops on the lot and a be ready to put one on whenever someone pulled in, there were alot more longbeds on the road then as well.

That's great news for Soaring.
The pickings are slim for my '99 reg cab shortbed.
The rake of the cab is greater on the reg cab, so a cap made for the super-cab has an unsightly gap at the top.

Been hunting for a reg cab, shortbed, styleside cap in my general area for a long time now with no luck.

I'd rather buy used and paint than pay retail.

You are exactly right on the cab angles on the 97-03's that just made my job that much more fun since the bed was the same but you couldn't interchange tops (dam engineers). You just happen to have the rarest of the bunch, the regular cab wasn't real popular and the ones who did buy them usually were the "I want the cheapest you got" crowd and didn't put accessories on them.

I never would have known if it weren't for a member here who years ago had a regular cab cap installed on his supercab.
It rubbed the third brakelight and paint at the top of his cab.

I've passed on many great deals putting a used supercab cap on my truck.
I just don't want the gap at the top.

I didn't go cheap, mine is a loaded Lariat, leather, all the toys.

When do you think cap manufacturers will stop making caps for the '97-'03 models?
