Thumbs up Pace Edwards - Great Customer Service!

Reader's Digest version:

I have a PE rolltop cover that is about 6 years old - the warranty expired 3 years ago. The vinyl has split around the lock cylinder and the powdercoat on the guide rails has almost completely worn off.

I figured I would Line-X the guides to match my bed and order a replacement cover from PE. Well, thanks to the forum I find out Line-X is not a great option for that application and that I should powder coat or paint them. Good info - thanks Truckgasm.

Since I figured I would refinish the good rails I would just buy a replacement cover - that is the aluminum deck with the vinyl cover. I contacted PE and was quoted $320 and they would throw in a replacement lock cylinder since I long ago snapped my key off in it. Not a great deal but, hey, still cheaper than a new $900 - $1100 cover, right?

I go to place the order for it today and their customer service guy I'd been emailing back and forth with tells me don't worry about it they are just going to ship me what I need at no charge! That was a rare and pleasant surprise; a company going above and beyond any reasonable customer expectation to make sure they are happy and to back their product.

I told Ken at PE that they earned a customer for life. I'm kinda sorry now I'm gonna paint the rails and didn't tell them all the powdercoat has worn off.

That is great news! You have to figure that things are going to wear out. Six years out of a cover is not that bad.
