LineX and Hamburger Grease

A lake outing over the weekend went horribly awry, and hamburger grease from the grill wound up all over the bed. I spent about an hour with the hose, a bottle of Dawn dish soap, and a large scrub brush. However, that didn't do the trick.

Keep scrubbing or try something else?

More grease to completey coat the bed?
I thought line-x was suppose to be impervious to all kind of chemicals? A little burger grease and it got all stained? I would try one of those simple green type cleaners that are supposed to breakdown the gease, but I'm not sure it will work.

An "orange citrus degreaser" should do the trick.

Use any good degreaser. Then, let the bed dry and apply an "Armoral" type product. Armoral is a little greasy so try Just Once (justonce.com) or 303 Aerospace.

Dawn dish soap (as well as a degreaser) will strip the polish off your truck and it will dull a spray-on bedliner. So, you should refresh the liner it as indicated above.

I took a roll of quarters down to the coin-op car wash. Sprayed some of the engine degreaser all over the bed and let it sit for a couple of minutes. Then I turned the fancy little knob to High Pressure Soap and blasted the bed at point blank range for the remainder of my quarters. That seemed to work pretty well. I missed a few spots though, you can't see the grease when the bed is wet.

I'll hit it again after work today and finish cleaning it up.

Truckgasm, will Meg's NXT Tech Protect be OK on the LineX to refresh it? I used it on the convertible top of my wife's '05 black mustang and it did a real nice job of bringing the life back into the top.

I've never tried it, so not sure. You might want to test it on a small area somewhere and see it you like the results.

+1 for the brake parts cleaner dont get anything fancy. Just go to autozone and get there brake parts cleaner and spray it where the grease is. I know from experience. I had a grill in the back of my dads truck one time that we used to cook barbeque hotodgs burgers and steaks at a picnic for around 400 people stupid people you asked them to drain the drain pan which is big on the grill we have and they said yes we did next thing I no the damn pan falls out and grease is everywhere. I tried everything. Freak accident with the brake cleaner threw it in the back of the truck after work oneday becuase I saw it laying in the middle of the road it busted a hole in it and it took the grease all off that little area I said ***** I went and got some more and did the whole bed twice got every last drop up. then I sprayed some armorall just to darken it up a little. So try the brake cleaner........ and let us know if it worked for you too.

Funny you should mention that... I was repainting the driveshaft on my Dakota when I was putting it all back together. So I sprayed like 3 coats of Rustoleum black on it. Needless to say I probably put more paint on my hands and arms than I did the driveshaft itself. So I got curious and I sprayed the Brake Parts cleaner that I got for like $1 at my local Autozone, and to my amazement, it took ALL the paint off my hands and arms... even under my fingernails! No scrubbing or anything. Not to mention it degreased me... but the best part of all, there is NO after odor! It's totally awesome stuff. But that's not all. You are gonna get a laugh out of this one... I use it as a VERY cheap insect killer... it kills EVERYTHING, bees and nests, ants, you name it and it doesn't stain, leave odors, or a messy residue that can get children and pets sick if they go near it.

Brake cleaner is by far the best stuff in a can when it comes to cleaning stuff.

Brake cleaner in a cut or scrap will teach you several new words... let's say it is VERY Exciting!

I had a manual transmission dump all of it's 80/90 in my DualLiner... a good hosing out cleans the bed. Worst case, I used a little 409 cleaner once.

Good thing I have little feeling in my hands... but it still stings like a SOB... but I'll bet it just cleaned that cut right out.

You might want to do a little reading before using brake cleaner as a multipurpose cleanerhttp://www.renegadepartswashers.com/...sheet_msds.htm
