question for TruckGasm

I am going to use a bed liner type material (herculiner, line-x, etc...) to do the full body of my f150 and was wondering what recomendations you have. i work at an autobody shop but we have no experience with any of those products. i seen some where you use dupont tints to change the color of the lineing, we use sikkens products is there anything sikkens has out to make different colors? thanks for your time

Just make sure you use just the pigment don't put any of the hardners or others additives becasue they will very adversely affect the liner material. Whenever I did a color match we would have to buy a quart to just 16 oz. of pigment because of all the extra.

Well, if you use the DIY products like Herculiner, Durabak, or Duplicolor, I think your colors are limited to what you can buy at the store. I don't think you can buy neutral (no pigment added) for which you can add your own pigments.

If you go with a professional brand, such as LINE-X, the dealer will be doing all of the work. You cannot buy and apply the product yourself.

So, I don't think I gave you any good news here. Let me know if you need any other help.

Truckgasm, I guess you get alot of people from bodyshops that want to buy the material for nothing and think they can spray it with a normal gun like I did when I was sparying. They probably get upset too when you tell them they can't do it like you are insuating they can't paint most just don't understand that it is completely different from painting and the special equipment needed isn't cheap.

Every so often I have someone ask if they can apply it themselves. They're just are not familiar with the industry's products.

You could definitely spray it, it isn't that hard especially for someone with painting experience. I was reffering to most body shops think they can spray it out of a regular gun and when you tell them they can't do it they get mad like your telling them they can't paint.

LINE-X is a franchised operation. There's quit a bit of work that has to be done before you can actually open your door for business.

LINE-X is applied using a Graco XP2 proportioner machine.

The gun is a Graco Fusion gun.

Not shown is the heated hose that connects the gun to the machine. You also need an air compressor (I have a 10 HP compressor), air dryer, and everything in-between. ....and that's just the beginning of what you totally need.

No, it's not hard to spray at all, just pull the trigger!
