I don't know if this is an isolated incident or not, but was wondering if any of you had heard of this happening. My pal Steve and I were working a jobsite one day, very hot and very sunny, when we noticed smoke coming from his truck. (06 F250 SuperCrew) We went over to check it out and as we got closer we could tell it was coming from the bed. We pulled out a hose and sprayed it down and pulled it into the shade, but the damage was already done. It had burned a hole in the bed of the truck.
It was a Rhino, not herculiner or anything else. Real deal. I was thinking about getting it done to my truck as well, but after that I have somewhat been scared of the idea.

There is nothing in any bedliner that will "burn" through metal. Unless there was a chemical right before spraying (and it would have burned within minutes), or unless someone put something in the back, then this is impossible.
Rhino's temp tolerance is 175 degrees. At that point it will start to melt. But, there's really nothing explosive or readily flammable. LINE-X's temp tolerance is 250 degrees.
Bedliners that use solvents (Speedliner and Superliner) are flammable until the solvents evaporate and the bedliner cures, which typically is within the first 72 hours. Rhino and LINE-X contain no solvents.
I'm calling BS until I see pics... If this crap is true, everyone that lives in Phoenix with a spray-in would have melted holes in the bed of their truck.
No pics yet but he is going to send me some. When I say hole, I don't mean a gaping hole that you can crawl through, just a small one about the size of two quarters side by side.
I asked him what the ins ever found out because they had never heard of this happening. The bed DID have some traces of gasoline and benzene around the area of the burn.
When he gets me the pics, I'll post them.
