What kind of prices are you paying for a Line-X spray-in bedliner (2004 F150, 6.5' bed)? They seem kinda high around here, from $459-499. I can get the Rhino for $329 with a coupon. I have had Rhino twice before, but Line-X seems like a better product.
I know the franchisees are trying to run a business, but for something that only takes two hours, the price seems excessive. I can get a bedrug for under $300....

Just had my truck Line-X'ed about 2 weeks ago. After the $20 coupon it was $475. For what ever reason it seems to be more expensive in the northeast. I've read where guys are getting it done for under $400.
So far I've been very happy. Looks great and easy to sweep out.

Your prices do not sound out of line... Since a spray on liner is as much a service business is it is a "product" business, there are some geographical differences depending on.
1) winter heating costs. (can be as high as 8-900/Mo)
2) Local/State sales tax rates.
3) Real estate prices (rent)
4) Prevailing wage rates in the area
Etc. Etc.
I'm at $405/$435/$455 (compact/short/long) with $50 for rails. My prices include the sales tax.
This is what I must charge in order to make ends meet, AND keep our quality (don't spray thin) AND keep my shop manager (who has over 5000 trucks sprayed).

I guess I'm just having trouble justifying the $100 extra vs. Rhino.
1. A liner that has more than double the tear strength of Rhino (LINE-X is 304 pli, Rhino is 145 pli).
2. A liner that has a 75 degree higher temperature tolerance (250 degrees vs. 175).
3. A liner that is more chemical resistant to organic oils and solvents.
4. A liner that has a nationwide lifetime warranty. Rhino's warranty is only with the dealer that sprayed it.
There are other reasons, but they are subjective, like hardness, texture, etc.
IMHO, and, most importantly, you are paying $100 extra for a liner that can be seamlessly repaired if anything ever happens. Check with your local dealer. We, for instance, will repair tailgates at no (0) (NADA) Charge.
Now, you are not paying $100 for 'bedliner insurance', quite the opposite. Polyurea/Polyeurethane liners are also much less humidity resistant during the spray process. So, you are more assured of a better quality liner and liner/metal bond.

Line-X applies their liners to a corporate standard which is MEASURED at every dealer. Every dealer is required to have an Elo-meter at location and calibrated. These are not cheap.
the high pressure/high temp equipment is MUCH more expensive than the low pressure/low temp. All Line-X dealers have over $30,000 invested in the pump and gun ALONE. Compare this to the $3-5K low presure systems in the back of Truckin or so.
Our units are made by GRACO. Do a google and see the quality and assurance to proper blend ratio and spray conditions.
Most Line-X dealers will spray TOTALLY INSIDE. This equals square footage and heating costs. Benefit? Less contamination, MUCH better consistancy (i.e. airflow in the spary area, overspray masking, avoidance of humidity problems, avoidance of base material contamination or degredation).
So, ask yourself the same question this way. Would I risk having a inferior job that is nearly impossible to repair or remove, on my new 30-40K truck (hell could be 11K, it's still alot of money) for $100?
Look, I've been 9 months in the business. Not as long as some of the guys here, but enough to tell you this honestly.

Do it yourself. $100-$150 for 1 Gallon.
We put on over 4.5 Gallons. You'll never get to 1/8"thick with one gallon, physics won't allow it.
Line-X dealers are not sitting back gouging the bedliner community with higher prices for no merit. We all have to be able to make rent/salaries, etc. I for one pay my guys more than the local body shops. That relates to higher cost, which means higher prices. HOWERVER, My highest paid guy has 6 years experience, and has sprayed over 5000 trucks. He knows how to handle 5th wheels, an over armor-alled truck (and how to spot it), rust issues, etc, etc. I figure that is my best assurance to the customer that he will get
1) a quality job done right
2) Done on-time
3) No shortcuts that can impair performance
4) experience and knowledge of something unexpected does come up.
I suggest you take a ride and SEE both places. Compare and Decide.
The above was not meant to be derogatory towards any Line-X competitor. Nor was it meant to be confrontational.

As a Line-X owner of two shops I can assure you we are not gouging the liner industry. The equipment costs for Line-X are much higher than the cold application systems, but worth every penny. The cost of our product has gone up due to the higher petroleum costs, not to mention higher shipping expenses.
