Line-X Prep

I'm having Line-X sprayed in on Tuesday. I understand the dealer will do the bed prep work, sanding etc.

I have an Access cover on my truck. I asked if they (the dealer) would remove it and then put it back on as part of the whole process. The business I'm having this done at installs Access covers, however I did not buy mine there.

I was told they would, but I would be charged an hour labor for them to do it. An hour labor is $50.

Is this a customary charge or am I being hosed?

I would have no problem taking the cover off myself, but I wouldn't want to put it back on myself. Especially since I don't have a garage and the warmest it gets here in the day is about 20 degrees.

That is not unusual and you are not being hosed. There is a cost to doing that: labor and liability.

$50. an hour labor these days is peanuts. I’d let them do it this way they are responsible for the total professional outcome of the job.

Had Line-X sprayed in today. It came out great. Took about 6 hours. They removed all the hardware and did a fantastic job.

They also took my tonneau cover off and put it back on without charging me extra.

Extremely pleased with finished product.

What exactly is involved with the Line-x prep? I heard that the paint/primer is sanded down to bare metal. Is this true?

...and wiped down with methanol.

6 hours!?! They must be a new franchise. When we first opened, it took us about 4 hours. Now, we can do a top notch job in about 2 hours.
