Hello all, My new (to me) 98 F150 SB is in need of a good tonneau cover. I have been hunting around on parts sites and Ebay and am wondering who has the best cover for the money. I'm looking for a soft vinyl one, i'd like opinions on snaps vs non snaps, and any thoughts on buying used? The prices seem to range from slightly over 100 to well into the 600s according to the 'Bay. Appreciate the opinions and look forward to the responses.
This is my First truck, I have always been as sportscar guy the past few years and just realised what I have have been missing

Bone Stock (for now)
I have an Extang snap cover and won't buy one again. It is served me well for 4 years, but I likely getting an Acess Cover for my next truck. Snaps suck in the winter.
I found locally that access covers are recommended for 245 installed. Is this a good price and is paying installation really necessary? Is it as easy as it looks or is some trick to it. Also On the 'Bay there are Craftec covers for 145.00 Any input or experiences with these? Is there a reason they are significantley cheaper that the Exstang/ Access covers? Also the local shop wants 350 for a rhino spray. Is that a competitive price or a too much?
If you can get a real Access Cover for $245, get it, installed or not. I have a feeling that is not the one people like so much. Check out this site for more info and go from there. Best I found was $457 shipped.
I had an Extang. The snaps stay on the rails, and I had someone stal them. Six months ago I bought a DP(Downey Products) and it is still very tight. But not hard to remove/install. And the snaps are on the cover
a friend of mine had a rhino liner in his truck and it was awful.
peeled and scratched bad. heavy objects with points will cut right through it.
i had line-x on my 02 ranger and for the 11 months i had it and abused it when i traded it in it still looked new. it held up to 1200 pounds of brick a few of which i dropped at 25# each no dents no scratches. even held up to the fridge i drug across it.
the real plus is most line-x dealers will fix scratches for free becuase they only have to do the scratch.
