Talking Getting a Rhino Liner put in!

I've heard great reviews about these liners. My uncle has one in his 94 Dodge and my buddies Dad has one in his 93 F150. Both were put in about a couple yrs ago i would imagine but they hold up like a boulder. You cannot hurt these things, which I have intentionally tried too, and I am convinced that this is the way to go. I have a 98 Ranger Stepside and the shop quoted me $340 to put it in. I will be responsible for the prep work. Before I take it in, they have asked me to clean it out and wash the entire bed area. Which is fine with me, because if they do lousy prep work, then the liner won't bond fully and look like dog crap. So this way I can make sure that the bed is ready for it. Once down there, I will wipe the bed down 1 more time to get any dirt or other foriegn matter off before they spray. They will only be doing the floor of the bed and the sides and the tailgate. I am getting it done in black, the usual color. I don't have any rust spots on the bed surface so I don't have to worry about rusting out later on down the road. Once all this is done, I will post a review of how the shop did and how it looks alonng with pics. Before and after,,,,91

sounds like a rip off to me, not the product of course which is very good, but the prep. i got my 93 lightning done over the rails and didn't have to do any of the prep myself for 400$, i would go check out your local line-x dealer and see what they say or if you have armacoatings in town check them out they can make it look smoother than linex or rougher than rhino and soft or hard as you want.

The shop asking you to do some of the prep work doesn't sound to good. That is what the majority of the cost is, the labor. That and the cost to spray a small truck seems high. Have you checked around for other spray in liners? Remember YOU are paying them to perform quality work, it should have nothing to do with you preparing the truck.

I agree with these guys. It might be a shady type shop, setting up an excuse if they do poor work.

In other words if in a few months you have problems with it they can always come back and say "It is not our fault, YOU did the prep work and must have not did it right".

That is BS to me. You work hard to earn your money, and if your like us, and I am sure you are, you somewhat anal about your truck, so don't let these jackoff's screw you out of good money for poor work. It will cost a lot more to have it removed and re-done if that is even possible.

I just had a Line-X put in my 2003 two days ago. They
did all the prep and the liner came out beautiful. $400.
I looked at Rhino and was more impressed with the
Line-X, they are both good products, it just comes
down to personal preference. I'd be a little nervous
about them making you prep your truck. That way
if something goes wrong they can blame you.

I paid about $375 for my last 2 Rhinos and they did all of the prep. I agree with the other guys, they should do the prep and not you. If you have any problems they could easily say that it was your prep that was the problem and that they have no liability. I'd advise you to find another shop and make sure that they're an official Rhino authorized dealer. Good Luck!

when i am calling around for quotes on the project i have i always ask them if i can do part of the prep for a discount on the job and i also expain to them what they are no going to have to do, ie. removing windows, etc. this though is just as the guys above said, a rip off. i would call up corprate rhino and tell them what the shop told you as they have standards they have to keep up to and they sound like they are not meeting those standards.

You guys weren't reading very well. All he said was they asked him to clean out the dirt and crap out of the bed. They still had to sand and prep...340.00 is a fair price.

Rhino and Line-X will both chalk and fade in very short order. Look for a product with the term "aliphatic" polyurethane or polyurea. Aliphatics won't fade or chalk.

I have a Rhino Linings spray in liner, and I DID NOT have to do any of the prep work. And my price was $345 for an 8 foot on a SD.
