Overhead Console Temp Display Repair
#140
IT WORKED! When I disassembled the display, everything looked fine on the board but when I tapped the same resistor you had to solder, it just popped right off. I'm a beginner at soldering, so after a 10 minute struggle to solder one side without the resistor sliding around I got it. Soldered the other side and went to test the display, perfect!
All it cost was an 11 dollar soldering kit I grabbed at Radioshack and less than an hour of time.
Thanks Patman!

Just want to add another testimony. I recently purchased a 2002 F-150 and the overhead console display was not working. I stumbled across this post and began following the instructions. When I looked at the circuit board neither of the 510 resistors were popped up or broken. At first I got frustrated, but then thought what the heck. I don't have anything to lose. I might as well solder them just to see. Much to my surprise it worked. So, even if the resistors don't look to be broken or loose I would still recommend hitting them with a little solder. Thanks Patman for creating this thread!

Another Saved Display
Thank you tremendously for the writeup and pics. I think my 7 year old son could have done it after reading what you posted.
First time I have used soldering iron since shop class. Worked like a charm and my display is working. Same exact chip as described and it worked beautifully. Again Thank You for this Post.

Success
Success- Kudos to original poster. F-250 w/ the issue but minimal differences- easy fix even with my limited ability. Map lights and moon roof worked but no display for approx. 2 years or so.
No screws holding this one in:
Slightly different resistor layouts but familiar enough:
On & Mounted
Thank you again gentlemen

Got mine fixed! I pulled it the first time and they looked good but the display kept going out so I went ahead and soldered them. Reinstalled and it lit up great. Thanks! Btw I also always dab a little dielectric grease on the electric connections.

Another happy customer!..I just bought an 01 supercrew and the display wasn't working..After doing some google work I stumbled across this thread..I dislodged one of the resistors while trying to solder it and laid down two of the ugliest blobs of solder you have ever seen but plugged it in and it's working..
