Nice writw up quintin.. On a side note, One of the guys in our shop has the same 1/2 impact as you, and I cant stand the way it sounds...

It's a strange sounding bird, that's for sure, but when it's working right, it's a bad ****. Too bad I've had to send mine back three times already.

The bearings, yes.

The seals, no (unless you're getting gear oil onto your brakes, which could cause a brake noise).

What kind of noise is it? I have a noise that I can't describe... Did you see my thread Quintin

my truck is in the shop right now. they say the gears are fine, I need to get new brakes but he doesn't think that is causing the noise...

Imagestation closed down and all my photo links broke. Sorry guys, I'll get them back up on my Photobucket account and fix the posts, hopefully sometime this weekend.

I have an 02 screw 4x4 w/ the 9.75 and the limited slip-I need to do this on my truck thanks for the info very informative this is somthing my dad and I can do on a weekend!!!

Quentin,

Thanks for the write-up. I just turned 75,000 miles on my 2004 and my left seal is leaking (I can smell it and see little drops of oil in the wheelwells) so I am planning on doing this in the next few weekends. hopefully your pics will be back up.
