Thank you so much for this write-up. We are on the first day of a 7500+ mile road trip when this same thing happened to us. Using your pictures and directions, we were able to fix it ourselves and continue on our trip. Thanks again!

Just fixed mine on my 2009 F-150 SuperCab. One thing I ran into was the difficulty of reaching up behind the fender to compress the plastic snap tabs...if you notice from the front you can see where they are...the squared off areas in the four "corners". Anyway, I was able to release them from the front with a gentle nudge of a screwdriver and the housing popped right out. After looking at it removed, it looks to me like that is how it is designed..to be released from the front. Easy fix.
