great writeup alex. you should add your personal HID experience as well as others that had them but converted to retrofits or back to halogens like NCSU, msall and mblouir for example

Well done Raptor.

One thing you could add would be images of the various styles of lighting shining up against a wall, garage, down the road, etc.

Kinda like this...

Sure don't.... I never put HIDs my HDs. Check with mblouir, he ran drop-in HIDs for a while and usually takes pics.

DEFINITELY sticky material!

To make it even better, could anyone who has done the retrofit recommend some OEMs to "fit" into our headlights. Or, maybe just add a list of OEMs that have projectors so we, the less informed, know where to look?

Who needs HIDs when you've got two 100-watt spot lights and four 55-watt fog lights supplementing your stock headlights? Just kidding...great write-up!

as for products, check out www.theretrofitsource.com. if you need any information, the guys there also run a VERY popular forum here. TONS of information there.

IIRC the 3-4 people who have done this mod all have the FX-R projectors.

i'll work this into the main article tomorrow

The fella who made mine used Valeo V2 style projectors.

Brian did the retro fit on my Prelude like 3-4 years ago before he even had his company name! He produces a great product!

If you look close enough you can see that the headlights are retrofitted

Great writeup, I definately learned a few things. As NCSU stated, a comparison of different lighting setups, before/after, etc would be a great tool for people deciding what they want to buy. If you asked around on here for people with aftermarket lights to all take a similar shot it would look great. For instance, 100ft from wall, hi/low beam, before/after etc

Where can I get a good quality set of UNused projector retrofits? It seems to me the reason that so many people get DDM's is because they are brand new and they dont want to go looking all over the place for someones used Beemer headlights.
