New guy here. Do the E series vans fall under the same trans codes as f series do?
I am doing a 4x4 conversion on a 94 E150 van and trying to figure out what trans it has. It has the E code on the door like it would have the E4OD but it looks like an AODE to me by looking at the pan. Just trying to find the 4x4 version of what ever trans it has in it so I can swap it out. I dont want to change ECM's and harness's.
My van has the 5.8L and has a 7000 lb GVWR dom is 1/94.
Thanks for any help, John

Ford says they did in low GVWR E150 vans. I have never seen one in person but I have found evidence that the 3 options from 89 to 96 behind a 5.8L were aode, 4r70w, and E4OD. I got lucky and ended up with the e4od

C3 -> A4LD -> 4R44E/4R55E -> 5R55E
C4 -> C5
C6 -> E4OD -> 4R100
FX/MX -> FMX -> AOD/AODE -> 4R70W4R75W
pretty sure all 4R100s had drain plugs, only pan available for E4OD's from Ford AFAIK.
to run E4OD with a carb u need a stand alone controller like the one offered from Buahman.
E-series trans codes should run parallel with the F-series.

The ZF S5-47M was used in the 1999 -2001 Super Duty Gas Trucks. The ZF S6-650 was used in the diesels. In 2002 the gas engines got the ZF S6-650.
In 2003 the Diesel got he ZF S6-750 and the Gas engines kept the ZF S6-650

Light Duty Transmission
I noticed in your first couple of posts for the different transmission models, the 4W70 was considered a "light duty transmission". The truck was ordered with the factory tow package on it, and with a GVW of 6600#, and a trailer towing capacity of 8600#, why would they put a light duty tranny in the truck??
BTW, it's a '01 F150 Lariat SCREW w/9.75" 3.55LS rearend....
It seems that MANY use the 4W70 tranny to do some serious towing duties. Am I being overly cautious about the tranny?? I'll be pulling a new Jayco 264BHW that weighs in at 4550# dry weight, and right at 6700#, hopefully, as it's gross weight.
When I have the transmission gone through, I plan on adding a cooler to it to help cool the fluid. Is this overkill for the setup, or will it be okay as it is??

Not sure if you have seen t his link but it has all the info on what you need.
https://www.fleet.ford.com/truckbbas...1/campercd.pdf
On page 17 of the link has what is contained in the Heavy Duty Electrical/Cooling Package. Higher capacity rad, aux oil cooler, better battery and better shocks.
By all means add an extra oil cooler to your transmission.
