I just got a new F-150 and I'm looking for advice on bedliners. My last truck (Ranger) had a drop in and it worked just fine for me, but I've always thought the spray-in liners were much cleaner looking. I use my truck mostly for river trips, so I pack sleeping bags, ice chests and that kind of thing. For that reason, I think the drop-in might be better - because it let's stuff slide around - easier to load/unload. I also sleep in the back with only a sleeping bag. Sometimes the drop-in has more ridges than the bed itself so this can be a little uncomfortable. But I'm also worried that the spray-in might be too rough for a sleeping bag. What are some of the advantages/disadvantages to each type of liner that I might not have thought about. Thanks for the advice!
Check out some of the other threads. I have and recommend the LINE-X spray-in. Your situation is a little different. You could always put down a piece of plywood. What else is the truck used for?

That's about it. I'm thinking the spray-on liner may be my best bet since I'm not doing any heavy duty hauling with the thing. I just wanted to make sure there wasn't anything that I didn't think about.
I got a spray-on because things do NOT slide around on it. I've seen complaints from people that were used to sliding things in and out of their truck and could not after the spray-on.
I also feared the drop-in would wear the paint of the bed and allow rust to start - undetected because the drop-in covered it.

You may want to check out a liner called BED RUG. Their Web-site is www.bedrug.com or phone 800-462-8435. It has a foam backing on the floor that fills the ridges, making the floor flat. It can be removed in no time.

conqsoft, is there anything I can do to protect the rubber bedmat? I mean could it be sprayed? If so, when I go back to the spray-in dealer for the third time, would I get a discount? Also, do you know if their stock is actively traded?
Ford1, Call Bull Accessories - I bought their Bull Rings and when I received them with their catalog it listed a mat to put under drop in liners to keep it from damaging the paint/bed, 888-879-2855.

Speaking of sprayed in bed liners, i think i am going to go with Permatech, it's alot like Rhino, only cheaper,sprayed cold and has a soft ,but textured finish.
The "We Do Trucks" here in Raleigh,NC has the fanchise on this.
My 00 flareside (on order) will cost $335.00 (black), in believe a regular bed is $365.00,you add color and the price jumps up a whole bunch, it's got a life time warranty, a whole hella lot cheaper than Rhino.
It must be a good product,they have done over 29 city trucks with it so far.

Go with a spray-on if you can afford it. The roughness of the texture can be adjusted, just depends on how they mix it for you. Also, depending on brand the "rubberiness" is quite different. There are some that are quite thick and rubbery, others that are thin and much tougher feeling. The one I went with was a local (not Rhino or Line-x) dealer, don't remember the exact brand. It is a very tough, thin coating that has texturing. However, being the not-so-rubbery type things do slide around some. Not as much as bare paint, but hitting the brakes will cause your cooler to slide into the sidewall. However, it has enough texture so that it is very safe to walk on/work on even when wet without slipping. Regarding the no-slip, I don't see the point for cargo as our trucks have those nifty tie-downs at each corner. A $5 bag of bungees does it for just about everything I normally carry.
If you get the spray on you will never see the bed again. Drop-in's kill your knees!
I would love to just have a nice rubber mat in the bed that I can pull out and clean under when needed.
