Tonneau Covers and mileage
I am thinking of getting a tonneau cover for my 99 F150 w/4.6 auto, longbed. One of the advertised benefits is greater fuel mileage. Can anyone vouch for that? It probably couldn't be much. I am only curious if anyone has any first hand experience.
Thanks.

I had a soft cover when I bought the truck, and when I lost the cover, I lost almost 6 mpg.

I say it would be about 2 or 3 MPG at the most on the Highway I done a little test on a trip about 250 miles each way once with the gate up the other with it down with the gate down I got about 1/2 a MPG better mileage

I have a supercrew and have not noticed any difference in mpg with mine installed. I have a hunch that maybe the regular bed and longbeds see the most improvement in fuel mileage with the lids installed. This is just a hunch so I would like to hear from others out there. Is there anyone with a supercrew that has seen an increase in mileage with a lid installed on their truck?

I have one of the pre-economy guage trucks, and it does seem to have helped quite a bit. I only had the truck a few days before the cover went on, though. The "no difference" on the Supercrew makes sense if you think about it. The shorter bed is almost completely out of the windstream. Once the air drops off the roof, it comes down just ahead of, or after the end of the bed. Just my theory, though. ,,,,98

Tonneau cover
After I insalled my cover I only noticed about a 1 mpg difference, which isn't very much. Plus I added a K&N filter the same time I installed the cover and that didn't help either.
