aiming Hid's

i have had hids for a while now, then took them out and went back to halogen bulbs because i was getting hi beamed by every car i passed and was clearly bothering the drivers infront of me with them, long story short i loved the way they looked and light out put, and want to go back to hids. is there any way to make them not as bad for other drivers (other than putting a projector in), i tried aiming them down and it didn't really seem to help at all. i have stock headlights in a 00 f150

Is your truck lifted? If so, stand about 20' in front of the truck, and depending on how tall you are, aim them to where the light pattern hits about you waist. That should aim them down a bit.....

oh, i think it's because of the 55w kit. i think mine are 35w. plus you have 6000k's which is just about the right temperature to put out the most lumens.

Any chance you'd consider Lighting/Harley headlights. The stock "fuzzy" ones scatter light too much...

I didn't think about.

OP, if you can get a set of clear lens headlights (i.e. Lightning, Harley Davidson, 04 Heritage STX) then the light will be more concentrated to a single area.

The stock fluted lens scatters light like crazy, mainly just to provide the max lighted area.

my headlights in my 08 limited are like that, they scatter. the aim is not to a concentrated spot, which i like more, lights up the road more..i was getting high beamed alot but just dealt with it.lol...i did aim them down just a touch and it did help.

Rule of thumb: after you re-aim them, aim them even lower. HIDs put out a ton more light so you don't need them as high as they were. Ride beside a buddy at night and compare your light output to his. Adjust down until they match. It's more than you think. Just take a 4mm and aim them.

I did this (proper way to re-aim the lights) and had to aim them even further down afterwards.

for you guys saying that the stock assembly scatters to much, your right, it drove me nuts. so i went and picked up headlight assemblies made by Anzo, pt # is 111030. they look great with stock fogs and def. concentrate more, but the pattern on the road is perfect. i used to have lines vertically in my light pattern. needless to say, they are now non existant

no what they are talking about is the lense of the headlight has little vertical lines going down it to scatter the halogen light. im pretty sure your 08 doesn't have this though.
