True Bi-Xenon HID Retrofit on my 06 FX4

OK guys I have begun a project where I will fit Acura TL projectors into my F150 headlights while still using the factor adjustments for the lights. It shouldn’t be too hard. Below are a few pictures. Things are still heavily under construction. I need to black out the headlights themselves, figure out ways to cover things up better, and figure out the wiring for these.

Parts

OEM Hella Ballast from Audi A4

Philips d2s 85122+ Bulbs, OEM 4300k temp range but 200 extra lumens compared to a standard HID bulb. (Plus remember while you gain color going into the 6000k, 8000k and 10000k range you lose output, so these will literally be the BRIGHTS available without moding even further to run 55w HIDs instead of 35w.)

Audi Projector Shroud painted DSG to contrast with the blacked out lights when done. (This shroud is still up in the air as it covers well from the front but is not very deep so it does not hid the sides very well and I want as close to an OEM look as I can do.)

Acura TL Bi-Xenon Projectors. You can see the metal flap inside that gives that distinct cutoff to avoid blinding people and moves to emit more light when the high beams are turn on.

Here is what I have so far. Remember nothing is permanently attached yet and the cosmetic work to hide things etc... are nowhere near done.

Everything inside will end up being painted black except for the orange reflector and a DSG shroud.

Nice. After I did FX projectors on my Ranger, I got so addicted to HIDs and proper projector housings. However, the effort is worth it, just time an money prevent me.

Sweet, waiting to get parts to start mine

Are you using OEM lenses? or Clear lenses?

Also, I have been thinking about modifying the very apparent foreground limiter on the TL's, because are trucks sit so high. Although im doing my fogs too so that will help out. Cant wait to see the finished product! Once installed, be sure to post pics (im sure you will)

Thanks everyone. When I am all done, maybe I will do a whole write up.

I am using the stock TL Fresnel lenses. Didnt see a point of going with clear ones since all you really get is more color at the cutoff (bluish line on the wall) and a sharper line for that cutoff.

I am looking into the foreground limit though but will stick a pnp kit in the fogs which should take care of the either way.

DEF look into clear lenses...ill search for some before/after pics of clear vs oem lenses.

I have my TL's and have measured everything out, check behind your headlamp mounts under your hood. There is a piece of steel that will need to be notched if the projectors are mounted properly. I know 2 people that ran into this problem after mounting the projectors. However it does look like you have them mounted in pretty far, The solenoid is actually in the reflector? (hard to tell from the pics) so your space issues should be fine.

This is awesome, i get to see a preview of what ive been researching and gathering parts for the past few months! Good luck!!

Still working on all this. I decided to try painting things to see if that helped any. I blacked out the headlights and painted the halogen reflector bowl and the projector itself.

It looks a TON better but still doesnt quite look good enough. I may need to opt for some fiberglass. Also I found a guy who does vacuum forming so I may be able to have him make some kind of custom plastic part that covers everything up....

nice but you painted the blinker reflector bowl? you plan on running LED's? If not how do you expect to emit light further than 1 foot with your blinkers?
