Question Recommended 4-channel amplifier

Hi to all,

Here's my setup:

- Pioneer AVIC-D3 deck
- 6.5" Alpine Type-R components up front (SPR-17S)
- Alpine 5.25" Type-R speakers in the rear (SPR-13C)

I am leaning against running a sub, so I want to make sure that my speakers are properly powered. I don't want to spend a lot of money, but I want the speakers to be run to their full potential or close to it for a reasonable price. Not just running off the deck.

To me, a lot of 4 channel amps seem the same or very similar - I'm just looking to max out my setup without going to a sub setup. I'll probably pick something up on eBay or Craigslist in new or lightly used condition. Alpine, JL Audio, etc. preferred.

Suggestions appreciated!

I'd look at Cadence amps at powermaxelectronics.com. Good prices, Jason is a good guy to deal with and you get a huge warranty. They are powerful, space saving amplifiers.

Also, I would recommend you get a powerful 4 channel and run the front 2 channels to your front speakers. Bridge the rear 2 channels on a single subwoofer, and run the rear speakers on the head unit turned down quite a bit. I think that would be a pretty decent setup for what you are after. A subwoofer adds a lot to a system as most 6.5" mids are quite weak below 60Hz (and in an untreated door they wont do much below 100Hz). You'll want a subwoofer. If you really want to amp the rears then get a 5 channel like the PDX5.

Id be looking for an amp thats doing 100-130 rms for those components alone. Those suckers are power hungry...I cant believe youve been happy with them with just deck power?

Adding sound dampening is great for reducing rattles and buzzing, but to get stronger midbass output you really want to seal up the doors if possible.
