Hi im Eric and am new to this message board,
Ive recently bought a 2001 silver clearcoat metalic F-150 supercab XLT and i dont want anything to happen to the bed of my nice new truck.

So ive heard of these new spray-in bedliners by Perma-Tech that are called Perma-Glow they susposedly glow in the dark for up to 10 hours well im 17 years old and want to add some cool stuff to my truck i was just wondering if anyone has had any experience with any of these glow in the dark bedliners.

any feedback would be appreciated.

I've not seen one in person, but the ads look interesting. When I was 17 (long ago), I opted for the black-out "look". Better to hide in the dark when doing things one shouldn't be doing.

I've heard nothing but great things about the spray-in bed liners, but glow-in-the-dark? Sounds like a Ricer mod to me. Kinda like the neon lights under the car thing. BTW, great choice of truck.

Yea a couple of my friends give me crap about the ricer mod idea but its just somethin about the glow that i think would be awesome.

the bedliner that i would get is susposedly black during the day but glows blue at night. It would look good in the silver truck. Right now i have the Ford duraliner drop in bedliner and its ok i guess just starting on some small mods and working my way up.

i was surprised when i found out the price of these bedliners the glow in the dark ones range from 1000-1500$ most ricer mods dont cost this much but it would be a sad day when a new F-150 gets lowered and those fat wheels that stick out. (in my opinion anyway, not tryin to offend those that do that stuff).

anyway itll be a long time before i do this just because i have a bedliner, and that the glow-in-the-dark's are too new for me to rush out and get one only to find problems with them later on.

Crank & Chrome, on TV, showed a purple glow-in-the-dark bedliner. They had pictures of the bed at night. I thought it was kind of trippy and VERY different. But I don't really like the purple color. Kind of made the truck sort of sissy looking. I don't know if they have other colors though.

I totally agree with Noma. I still opt for the blackout "look" and I'm now 27. Rhino Bedliners has my thumbs up.

 

Try sticking 275-45's on 20" rims on one of those honda civics. Those damned ricers. I could blow the doors off any one of them, even with my blower belt disconnected. It's always funny, racing and beating a car that could fit in my bed. LOL

Stay away from glow in the dark liners!! $1500 +, compared to $350 - $450 for a good black spray in. I have talked to a dealer that does these, he said they also lose their glow in a few months to a year. You would end up with a dull bedliner. Go with BLACK! Use yur money for other more usefull things.

Man im so crazy about glowing stuff its ridiculas. If the bedliner glow last for a long time i would consider getting it. Man i have glowing logos, pinstripe, gauges, wheel spinners, wiper nozzles, and fixing to get the interior and the under (truck) neon kits. but if i where you i would just get a regular spray on liner and dont waste your money on something that isnt gonna last that long. get some thing like ground effects or rims with that kind of money.

glow in the dark would be great since I have a tannue? cover and you cant see anything in the truck bed at night.

Oh yeah, don't get the glowing bedliner.

 

First, let me disclose that I work for Glow Inc, a company that sells glow in the dark pigments to manufacturers.

I dont know what pigments Perma-glow uses, so I can not speak on the longevity of their product.

But there is a misconception that all glow in the dark products fade after a year, especially in sunlight.

This is true for Zinc Sulfide, a pigment popular in the 70's. It is still often used due to low cost.

But Strontium Aluminate and the other, newer technologies do not fade from sunlight. In fact, they will only loose 5% glow over 10 years assuming the medium has been created properly.

Of course, like anything else, the Strontium Aluminate comes in grades which mostly determines the brightness, not the durability.
