Last night I noticed that at least two of my tires have a ripple or indent in the sidewall going from the wheel to the tread. Is this something I should be concerned about? They are General Grabber TR's.

I have 4 symmetrical "ripples" or indentations on one of my goodyears also. Sounds like the same thing as yours. Anyone know what it might be?

Are they indentions or extrusions? If they go out, then it means that you ran over something going very fast, a small bump or something. It will leave a little balloon in you tire, and it will dent your wheel. If there is an indention, I don't think that you have anything to worry about. If you don't get any feedback here, you might want to call your local tire company. Maybe you just rubbed up against something?

If is an indent running from the bead to the tread it is probably a ply splice. Where there is a splice you have a double thickness of ply. With the double thickness there is less give so it shows up as an indent. The tire is actually stronger in that small area.

If it is a bulge then it could be a sign of weakness in the sidewall or damage to the tire and should be checked out by the dealer or a tire store.

 

It's definately an indent, not a bulge. Thanks for the info.
