What kind of gas mileage does everyone get on their F150? Miles to the gallon/size of tank/miles to a tank/etc.??? I have a 2000 F150 XLT V6 5-speed and was curious as to what everyone else gets on theirs. Thanks.

 

I get approx. 15mpg - 18mpg (on average). When I traveled from New Hampshire to California a year ago I got up to 21mpg on the freeway doing 65 - 75mph, overall on the trip (approx. 3,200 miles one way) I averaged about 18.5mpg, that of course was basically all freeway mileage.

EDIT:

I should of noted that my approx. 15mpg - 18mpg average is due to season. Durning winter I average about 15 - 16mpg, durning summer I average between 16 - 18mpg. Durning winter, at least back here in New Hampshire, they put crap in the fuel, also have to figure you let the truck warm up more then durning summer in order for it to be warm inside the truck so that effects gas mileage.

 

16/17 miles a gallon usually.

 

I've been getting a consistent 19 to 21, with the occasional 22 on a good stretch of highway. I haven't figured my overall average, but I keep figures on virtually every refill. The 21 mpg is not common, but 19.3 to 19.9 is.

That's with the 5 speed and 3.08 open differential.

I am also very light on the throttle and use speed control whenever feasable.

Now, let my wife drive it, and she'll get that down to 14-15 mpg.

 

Right now I am getting about 16 maybe 17 mpg. I have about a 5 mile stretch of Interstate that I travel everyday to work, but the rest is in and around town. Right now I am averaging about a 100 miles or so for every quarter of a tank and I have a 25 gallon tank. Mine is a V6 supercab, automatic, 3.55 rear end and I am really hard on taking off, so 16-17 mpg is not too bad.

Now my other F150 is a 2000 regular cab V6 with 5-speed. It had the 3.08 and I regularly got closer to 17-18 mpg or better. Like what has always been said, standards get better gas mileage than autos.

You didn't mention what kind of mileage you are getting. You asked us so what about you.

 

I should have added I have the 01 4.2 5-speed 3.55 L/S and durning the trip to CA, where I got up to 21-21 at times I was using cruse control most the time.

 

Have 2000 Supercab with 3.55 rear, automatic and 255 tires. Previous 5 tanks averaged 19.25 mpg. Installed magnaflow muffler to stock pipes and modified the intake with a S&B airfilter (K&N stlye) and the next two tanks were slightily over 20 mpg. Installed electric fans and last tank I went 356 miles and was at 3/8 tank of gas before filling up to average over 22 mpg. This has all been with a mix of country/city driving, no highway trips. I also run 0w-30 Mobile1 though I doubt that makes a big difference. Glenn Taylor.

 

I checked it the other day and got 16 miles to the gallon. Of course, that's stopping and starting around town. When I get it on the parkway, it should do better. I hope!

 

I would say that sound about average, at least for me with stop and go.

 

I get 15 average, and 13 towing.......
