I like the look of the new Dodge Truck chrome/polished aluminum wheels. Anyone know what the bolt pattern/circle size is of our 4x4 F150's compared to the new Dodge trucks? Backspacing?

Wondering if a wheel swap is possible?

 

I've heard one place that it is possible, and another place that it isn't, so i have no idea

as for the rims....yuck IMO Don't even look like 20's, and aren't that great of quality from the ones i've seen. but hey, its your truck and your choice, and thats what makes everybody's ride unique

 

Depends on what year Ford you're talking about. 97+ F150s have a 5 on 135mm pattern while 96- F150s had a 5 on 5.5" bolt pattern. I don't think the new Dodge uses a 5 on 5.5 pattern, and I know they don't use 5 on 135mm since Ford is the only one to use that pattern.

 

After some more research:

It seems our Fords have a 5 x 135mm (5x~4.5inch) pattern and Dodge uses a 5 x 5.5inch pattern according to some of the custom wheel places.

Actually I haven't seen the Dodge wheels close up, they look alright on the truck when you see them in traffic.

You'd have to get your rotors/drums redrilled.

It was just a thought.

5x135mm is NOT 5x4.5. they are different patterns. All Rangers, Bronco II, and Explorers ever made have 5x4.5 pattern which is different from the 5x135mm pattern. As far as the idea of drilling the rotors and drums, thats a BAAAAAD idea. If you started with blank rotors and drums it would work, but the difference between the 5x135mm and the 5x5.5 is small enough you will have oblong holes which will make for VERY weak mounting for the wheel studs, and thats even assuming that it would work at all.

 

the dodge truck wheels and the 96 and older ford truck bolt pattern is the same i have seen the ram wheels on a ford van. pretty sad though.

 

Powerstroke73, ya I know 135mm isn't 4.5", that's what the "~" was for, it's approximately 4.5 inches, actually slightly less if I remember correctly.

I wonder why Ford went for 135mm, not exactly a large diameter for a truck?

 

FYI, 5 on 135mm is more like 5 on 5.32 inches, not close to 4.5 inches.

 

DOH! I had 30.5 mm/inch in my brain (must be the 12inches = 305mm thing) oops, so it's 5.3114 inches roughly. Sorry - me bad.

 

Darn Metric System! I like to use 2.54 cm to an inch as my conversion. That happens to the best of us!
