The cabin filter is not standard in any F-150 from the factory....it is a Dealer Installed Option (DIO). Once installed, the filter needs to be changed every 15,000 miles or 1 year (more often if in dusty conditions).

The reason I installed mine is that I rarely drive with my windows down and wanted to keep the cabin cleaner. Well, it is MUCH cleaner now. The cabin filter is not very useful if the windows are down most of the time.
