Factory Tech, Your opinion please.....

I just wanted your expert opinion on a problem I developed recently.

75% of the time truck shifts normally. However(usually when truck is warm), during normal acceleration truck seems to go into "neutral" when upshifting from 1st to 2nd. The rpms shoot up and shift occurs after letting off the throttle. All other shifts occur normally and OD NOT blinking.

I will be bringing it to a transmission shop next week, but can you give me an idea of what problems could exist (ie shift solenoid, accumulator, piston seal, new tranny...ect.)

What is your diagnosis, please???????

Thanks..............

Could be a lot of things, but sometimes a little slip is normal, it's the converter and as weird as it feels, it's just deciding whether to lock or not, the slip you feel is it not locking I think. I'd really have to drive it to tell for sure.

Let me know how it goes at the dealer.

Thanks for responding,

Unfortunately, it is much more severe than what I described. If I don't let of the throttle during 1-2 shift, the "slip" would go on for 4 plus seconds without shifting---and if I gave it more throttle during this time, rpm's would climb, but no power to the wheels.
But when I let off the throttle, it would shift, hard.

It's best described as-----riding the clutch in while hitting the gas...lot's of engine noise, no power.

If you have any last minute thoughts, let me know---

Thanks for the time.

The intermediate plates are toasted, more than likely, they are your A2 gear, if I'm right, it should shift into second fine on the M2 (manual 2), which is controlled by the band, and not by the plates.
