2013 V8 5.0 Oil Change before 1500 Service Email
Has anyone received a recent email from Ford Service? it states you have to get your first oil change at 1500 miles, but only for the 2013 5.0L engines.... I have not received one, but a number of other users on some other forums have stated this.
Another user posted.....
I had also received a similar email yesterday morning and when I called my dealer the service writer I spoke to said "he was just informed this was a precautionary measure". I asked him precautionary in what regard? He replied "on inspection, some of the 5.0L engines had an excessive amount of media in the oil pan". With this I asked was it metal? He replied "he was not told what type of media it was, but it only is for the 5.0 and only a select number of engines". With this he made my appointment and I am getting it changes tomorrow.

Anyone else know about this? Seems as most service departments have not been made aware of this, but some users only got the email today.
Thanks!!

I just called Ford to find out more info..... cause this is making me nervous. First they ran my VIN and said i didnt have any recalls, TSB, or any issues at all with my truck.Thank You!!!! Build day was 11-15-2012
I then asked to have more details able the "excessive amount of media in the oil pan"
She put me on hold to reserach and came back to say she couldnt find any info about this issue. But she would contact more people and have a answer to me by the end of today.
Im going to order a FilterMag tomorrow. I have a call into FilterMag to see which one we need for the FL500S filter.

My guess is that somewhere along the assembly line a QC check was missed and this is extra precaution to catch a problem before something bad happens. I would further guess the "media" is probably the casting media that is used to form the block, heads or some other large cast metal piece. More than likely it is sand. The other option would be some of the cleaning media was not completely removed or the records of it being removed are not accurate. The cleaning media is commonly something abrasive like walnut shells. I suspect that internal audits showed a discrepancy in the records and to be on the safe side Ford requested an early oil and filter change. That is cheap insurance in the event of extra junk getting inside the engine. You can try adding a magnet to the filter but I'm not sure it will do much good since there is a strong possibility the contaminant is non-metallic.
Now, where's all the folks that run around bombing every thread about buying a 5.0 because there is no chance for problems with this motor....

Hoax
Appears that this was a spam email that was somehow spoofed to look like it was was from FORD.
This would explain why none of the dealers had notification about this.
More than several users got the emails, but its unsure how new f150 users with 5.0's were targeted.
For now, it seems to be a hoax.....
Sure had a few of us new 5.0 owners freaked out for a day at least...
Ford would probably always send out USPS mail instead of emails concerning any issues like this anyway.

The original poster on the originating forum was indeed a NEW user that signed up the day of the posting, so I guess they had nothing to do but to stir up a little sh*t. Probably some troll.
Well, at least we know now there is NO issue, which is soothing to some 5.0 owners.
P.S. The OP never posted the original email, so was no credible info to go on to start with.
was worth looking into until others couldn't confirm it.
