Engine cleaning

What's the best way to clean the engine compartment of a 2010 4x4 f-150? Mine is nasty and grimy, dealer says not to steam clean it because of the electronics involved. Any ideas?

While I'm not a fan of HF tools, they do have an inexpensive "engine cleaning gun/wand" that connects to an air compressor.....with a siphon hose that drops into a bucket.....it is really a very small, low flow , high pressure stream....I spray the engine compartment with 50/50 mix of simple green (it's e-component friendly), then use the wand to rinse it off.....the diameter of the spray is such that really allows very fine control over exactly where the water goes....I also fill a 1 gallon bucket with hot water- it's almost like a steam clean except the moisture evaporates within minutes.....just avoid harness connectors, etc.

Well, it was supposed to be a link to "engine cleaning" search. For some reason it didn't work.

To the OP, use the search function for "engine cleaning". There's more threads on that than you'll care to read.

Doesn't work and never has and never will. It's a forum limitation, I believe it has something to do with cookies.

I agree on using Simple Green. It is non toxic & eco-safe. If the 50% solution doesn't work, it's okay to use full strength in a spray bottle. You will need to rinse after letting it sit for a couple minutes. The Air Force bought this stuff by the barrel to clean aircraft of oil and fuels.

I use an APC, with plastic bags over the Alternator, CAI, and ECU.

Works great. Just watch where you squirt the hose and don't go crazy with it.

Before the links were broken, it worked. YOU even commented on it in a previous thread, so save the BS and shove it back in your pie hole.

THAT link works, because it's to a thread. A link to SEARCH RESULTS doesn't work, jackass.
