Cruise control

I didn't get an owner's manual when I bought my truck. Which fuse # is the cruise control and location of the fuse box, (in cab or under hood)?

I don't know which fuse it is on your truck, but you should go here:

http://www.fleet.ford.com

You can download a PDF of the Owner's Manual and the Maintenance Schedule for your truck under the Maintenance tab, Owner Manuals.

Thanks ProjectSHO89 for the link.

The manual I looked at says there is a passenger side fuse box. My truck has no such thing. Driver side has a fuse box but the panel doesn't describe the fuses. Thanks Ford

You really need to go RTFM again.... More thoroughly, this time.

Has the cruise control recall been done? Do you see any evidence of brake fluid leakage around the disconnect switch?

No I haven't checked. I'm learning mechanics slowly. Is the disconnect switch by the master cylinder? Also, is the recall valid for a used truck?

The switch screws into the master cylinder. The recall applies regardless.

Found switch via using my chilton and yes it's leaking. I'll call ford and find out.

Called ford and gave them VIN #. They said there's not a service call for my VIN #.

Then replace the switch and harness anyway. The recall was likely already done so it's closed out in OASIS for your VIN.

That's what I'm going to do. The O'Reily's part and the OEM part look entirely different. Also the replacement harness looks way short when I back track. And the O'Reily part is called a cruise control switch instead a brake pressure switch. Are they one in the same?

You need to buy the revised switch kit from Ford. It's called a cruise control deactivation switch. Part # is 1L1Z9F924AA. It shouldn't be more than 25 bucks or so. The existing pigtail harness must be removed, it has an inline fuse which is probably blown. This harness is what was installed when the recall was done. The replacement harness in the kit is long enough, you may have to reroute what it plugs into.
