          Since people are always asking how to fix their dome light or door ajar light from staying on. I thought i would make a post showing how to fix it.

          If the light is on and the doors are shut then spray some WD40 in to the latch. The door switch is probably stuck.
          Spray in both doors then open and close them a few times. sometimes you will need to spray a lot of WD40 and it will run out the bottom of the doors. Just leave them open until it drains out.

          Perhaps a moderator can make this thread a 'sticky'. Thanks for the pictures, Lee.

          LOL

          Maybe we can get WD-40 to sponsor this thread.

          Door latch replacemnt = $25 x 2 = $50
          Labor = $100 or 3 hours
          Total = $150

          OR YOU CAN do the alternative

          can of WD-40 = $2.50
          Labor = $0.00 and 2 minutes

          It worked!!

          I've been living with this door ajar problem for 5 years. My mechanic said it could cost as much as $500 to fix.

          I owe Lee99 a case of beer. Thanks very much

          I tried this on my '04 supercrew but the dome lights are still on,also with the key off and the radio on, you open the rear doors the radio still stays on,it goes off when you open the front doors but the lights stay on. I had to take out all the bulbs. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

          Did you spray all four of the latches down good?
          I'm not 100% that the radio is suppose to go off with the rear doors. But I'm not 100% on that someonel else that has a S'Crew might beable to answer that. I would spray all of them down real good again, just one of the 4 switches sticking or going bad will cause this. If it still dosent work, then the next thing I can think to do would be to unplug each doors harness one at a time and see which one is the problem. If you unplug it and it dosen't change then plug it back in and go to the next one. If you go througn them all with no change then it could be 2 of them so unplug each one and leave it unplugged until it works. Then you may end up having to change the bad one(s). It's not likely that they are all bad.

          eww... yea.. that sounds more like a dead short if all switches were unplugged and it was still on.

          this is the door... isn't the switch at the front of the door? Where the guide bar enters the frame of the truck?

          Nope, they moved it to behind the latch.
          When they use to put them in the jamb up by the hinges it was nice because you could have the door open and put some tape over the switch to shut the dinger off while you cleaned the truck or worked under the dash or anything and could still listen to the radio with the door open. But now you have to flip your latch back to get the dinger to stop and listen to the radio with your door open. If you do that then you don't want to forget to flip it back open before you shut the door or it will bend the bolt, latch, and/or other things and your door might not shut well anymore or it might not shut at all.

          Door Ajar

          My Dad's 2001 Subercab 4x4 is doing this. I was wondering if this is happening on all models and trim levels.
