Is there a fuel pressure test port on the 5.4 3V engine? I have a 2004 with that engine and need to find the pressure test port.

 

Look to the passenger side of the engine compartment to find the Schrader valve. Look on the left-top side of the engine to find the fuel rail. On the fuel rail, you'll see the Schrader valve. It usually has a yellow or black cap and looks similar to a tire valve. Unscrew its cap. Your there..

Not sure what year but I've been told they did away with the schrader valve and now there is a sensor and a diagnostic tool is needed or edge programers (and other) can show fuel pressure..

Well I wrote 2004 in the actual post. I've seen pictures about the one for the 97 but I've looked at the rails in my 2004 and cannot find a pressure test port.

 

None on a 3v. Take the fuel line off at the filter and T into the line to check

 

The 2004+ use a FPDM to regulate the pressure, not a rail-mounted pressure regulator. If you think you are having fuel pressure issues, check the FPDM for corrosion.

 

I was just trying to find a place to install a fuel pressure sender.

 

Why not just use something like a Scangauge and read it out from the PID?

Well I got my sender in. Used a t-fitting type deal on the line going into the fuel rail. What is the correct PSI should be around?

 

Fuel pressure varies by design with a FPDM system.

The fuel pressure PID is available with Xgauge.
