Angry Limp Mode?? I am really starting to get angry! Dang eCo!

My 2011 eCo has been in the shop for a week and now the dealer calls me and tells me to pick it up although it is not fixed and drive it until they find a solution. last month they had it for a week and fixed a few small things but missed all of the major issues.

They are telling me that ford is working on a solution and there is nothing they can do in the meantime. No loaner, no renter, no nothing for assistance. I have called Ford and the regional service rep is going to call me back within 2 days...

I have a list of several items that needs to be fixed but the most important is the wrench light and "limp" mode..

I can hook up to a light duty trailer (6*10 with no gate) with my lawn mower on it and go 10 miles or less before it goes into limp mode and drops to 5th gear... I have to pull a trailer every weekend about 100 miles round trip.

I tried to get some viagra to fix my eCoBoost ED problem but my dealer said they couldn't help... anyone else having this problem?

I think it may be time to find another dealer! Id be damned if they told me to come pick the truck up with it not being fixed...

Wth????

Sounds like you are still under warranty. Your dealer is a shiesty telling you to come pick up a vehicle and drive it knowing full well there is an issue with it. That is just horrendous! Please post the name so that we may all avoid them in the future! AND FILE A COMPLAINT WITH THE BBB! Ford or the Dealership has to make this right!

I hate that you're having the truck trouble AND the dealer trouble. Ya know, the truck trouble is aggravating enough without having to deal with a shifty dealer.

I can't imagine Ford would stand for that kind of 'diagnosis'. I mean really...telling you to drive it in fail-safe mode until they can figure out what's going on?? That's just ridiculous!

There's NO WAY I'd go along with that. Is this the dealer where you bought the truck?

I am leaving the truck at the dealership until the rep calls me back in a few days. I don't have time to be jacking with it..

It is not at the dealer where I bought it because they are over a 100 miles away, it is at the dealer where my company buys 10-12 trucks a year and where we get all of our service work done..

That sounds like a whole bunch of leverage to me! I'd use it!

Sounds like typical West Texas.. I wont touch the Ford dealer in big Spring (Bob Brock Ford). I would find another dealer to take the truck to. Last vehicle I had under factory warranty, I used a dealer 100 miles away because of issues like this...

you are out west and I am as far east as you can get in Texas, Sounds like just a regular stealership..

I am waiting to hear back from the service manager and the rep. After i speak to them I will update you all. I don't want to blast the dealer when the service manager may not even know of my problems..

For this to be treated or corrected under the Lemon law, does it have to sit a dealership for a given length of time? I'm just wondering why the dealer would insist that it is not on their lot while it is being mulled over by Ford.

I am not sure how the lemon law stuff works, they did not insist that I pick it up though. they rather gave me the option to let it sit until they figure it out or pick it up and drive it. They did tell me that they have no clue how long it will be.

I had a yellow paper all about lemon law in the book with my truck...

The Texas Legislature enacted the "lemon law" (Texas Occupations Code Subchapter M) to aid owners and lessees of new motor vehicles (including towable recreational vehicles) regarding a manufacturer's, distributor's or converter's warranty obligations. Under the law, vehicle manufacturer's, distributor's and converter's are required to repair any defects that are covered by warranty. If the defects cannot be repaired, an owner or lessee may be entitled to repurchase of the vehicle or a replacement vehicle if the following conditions are meet:

1 - The new motor vehicle develops a defect or abnormal condition which is covered by a manufacturer's, distributor's or converter's warranty;

2 - The owner or lessee reports the defect or condition within the warranty term;

3 - The owner or lessee gives the dealer, manufacturer, distributor or converter a "REASONABLE NUMBER OF ATTEMPTS" to repair the defect or condition;

4 - The owner or lessee giver the dealer, manufacturer, distributor or converter written notice of the defect and at least 1 opportunity to repair it;

5 - The defect continues and it substantially impairs the vehicles use or value or creates a serious safety hazard; and

6 - a written complaint with a filing fee of $35 is filed with the Texas Dept of Transportation, Motor Vehicle Division, NOT LATER THAN SIX MONTHS AFTER the earliest of (a) the expiration of the warranty term; or (b) 24 months after the delivery date of the vehicle; or (c) 24,000 miles after the delivery date of the vehicle.

To file a complaint or obtain additional information:

Sounds like you have already taken steps 1, 2 and 3. 5 sounds like a given.

I would send a letter to the dealer and Ford (written notice) via certified mail w/ receipt notification. After receiving the receipt go back to the dealer and ask them to repair the issue. Get something in writing from the dealer if they will not repair it - I know, easier said than done. That should resolve step 4.

Ford Motor Company
Customer Relationship Center
P.O. Box 6248
Dearborn, MI 48126

https://secure.corporate.ford.com/fo...eServiceIssues

Now assuming you are within the limitations of step 6, file the written complaint.

That is an unacceptable answer from the dealership. It is either a mechanical issue or a computer issue. If they can't find and fix the problem, they need to replace your truck. I'd be telling (not yelling) the service manager, I didn't buy the truck to have it go limp whenever I drive someplace and that I need to have my truck so they need to either get it fixed real fast and quick or give me a loaner until it is fixed. Then I'd be researching my states lemon laws. If it isn't fixed within the requirements of the law I'd be turning it back in and getting a new truck. I would imagine if it is going into limp mode it is throwing codes. Codes mean reasons and if they can't figure it out from the codes then, I would think, there would be a computer issue.

Both times I have taken the truck in to the service department I have given them a printed letter with all of my complaints, I wonder if this counts towards number 4, if so all that is left is for me to do is number 6
